...but what gives with this cab? Shouldn't it angle smoothly down instead of being notched like that? Is this some kind of cab variation or a conversion? My guess is that it's been cut, but why on earth would anyone cut out both sides?

I'd agreed on $650 knowing the cabinet needed a little love anyway, but it bugs me I didn't notice this until now. Everything else works fine. Still worth it?

Are those the only pics you have? That cabinet is not correct it has had something done to it. My personal opinion since you asked is that 650 is to much but I would have to see more pics to see if there is water damage or swelling before I told you what I thought its worth.

The lower back door is not original as it should have a bend to it like the contour of the cabinet. I think that the entire front panel has been replaced at some time. When they removed it, they must have cut notches in the sides to do so. You can tell because they sloppily screwed it in on the sides. Also, from the bottom view you can see that it's a different type/thickness of wood than the rest. I paid a similar amount for a piece of crap Tron cab and paid another $200 to have it delivered. If you just want a playable game buried between several other games, then it should do you fine. If you're looking for a nice accurate presentation piece, then this cabinet will only serve as a parts cabinet and you should just get another cab cut by DPwiz.

Well, I passed, even though he came down to $550. I'll probably kick myself later.

The cabinet was just too loose for me, since I really have no woodworking skills. The cab was really crumbling where it was screwed together, and I could actually "torque" the whole cab side to side slightly if I grabbed the top. I wasn't sure if I could get it home and to my basement in one piece. If anyone else is interested, the monitor was nice and bright, all the lights worked, and the game itself played fine. The machine's in Bolingbrook, IL.

You would have to cut missing wood and use a biscuit joiner to replace. Probably not that difficult. Honelstly I would have that as a doner game, buy a new cab from Brett and transplant into a new cab. If boards, and cosmetics were still good it might have been worth it. Tron has become an expensive game to buy restored or working.
