Anyone have one of these? I am picking one up in nice, working condition for $450. Good deal? It is one that I never played back in the day, but it looks darn cool. I will post some pics tomorrow after I nab it.

Thats an awesome game. If there was a working one here in Dallas for $450 I'd totally buy it.

The starship 1 cab looks real cool. Sounds like a 450 dollar deal. :cool2:

awsome game!i used to play it at a shakeys pizza all the time when i was a kid. nice score.

Thanks, ya can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. The mame screens and what is currently shown on YouTube I hope doesn't do it justice - missing out on the lights and background reflections, etc. I can't believe there is no footage of an actual cab. I will make sure to post some videos of it as soon as I have it in place :)

i picked up 2 of them about a month ago...one has a bad power supply that i'll fix and the other works fine...there are a couple different links to manuals for these...if you need them, let me know and i'll look them up for you

Thanks. I will let you know. Not sure if it will come with one or not. I can't wait to get this tomorrow morning!!

i just thought of something...the monitor in mine was filthy and the games background is all black...when i first turned it on, i thought the monitor was bad even though it had neck glow on the monitor...since i didn't think about the background being black, i wound up the brightness and it was glowing nicely...cleaned the monitor, turned the brightness back to normal and it looks just fine...

What does the game play actually look like? Is is reflected onto a space like background like Ast Deluxe or SI? Or just black like it looks in the video posted here? What kind of lighting does the cab have? Does the white plastic bezel light up or anything? How do you lose lives in the game or is it on a timer? It doesn't appear that the enemy ships are firing back?

I am reading the description here on KLOV and it sounds like it looks really cool. But hard to imagine how they are describing it on KLOV. Does yours have all the working lights and black light? It also looks like the quarters drop in sideways -- cool!

The game is reflected into a mirror like A.D. There is a space scene as the backdrop that is black light lit. It is a timed game. The enemy ships do not fire at you, but the higher point ships will run into you. When that happens you get a large explosion and your ship slows down for a few seconds. You can also avoid or run into planets. You have two weapons - lasers on the control yoke, and a torpedo on the control panel. You only have 5 torpedos so save them for the higher pointed ships. The torpedoes will kill all ships on the screen at once. If you go over a set score amount, mine is 3500, you get an extended game.

It's a very cool game. I've had mine for over 12 years and had it shipped from east to west coast. I picked up another one last fall for 50.00 not working. I gave it to a friend of mine who wanted one.

Pick it up, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. B/W games need to be preserved!

Ok, got it home this morning. Other than a small crack in the left of the plastic bezel and a non-working thruster (game seems to play ok without it, too) it is in pretty nice and working condition. I have played it a few times and like it quite a bit. Looks cool sitting next to the Midway Stunt Pilot.

For those that have one, where is the black light accessed? Through the front or through the back door?

i took the whole front off of mine to get to the lights...there are 2 different light fixtures on the same slide out drawer...the one in the front lights up the marquee and the one behind it is where the black light goes...when you see the white fluorescent fixture, there are 2 screws on the wood on either side of it...unscrew those and the whole thing slides right out

How did you get the plastic bezel off? I see the bar on the top and removed the screws there. Top half of bezel comes off, but still connected toward the bottom. Does the CPO need to come off inorder to get the bottom half of the plastic off?

it has to come off too...4 bolts i think...i'm not sure if you can get to that back bulb or not by going in thru the marquee, i never tried

So, removed the control panel and removed the plastic bezel. The light assembly slid out like you indicated. I replaced both the front flourescent and back black light and got it running. Buttoned it all back up and the black light background looked great! Then after I unplugged the game and plugged it in later, the blacklight had gone out. Damn. Not going to remove everything to get to it again but hope it will decide to turn on again eventually.

Anyone know why it would work to begin with, although I did have to install and spin it just right while plugged in to see it come on. Then I left it at that spot. Now, it won't fire up?

Oh, well, we did get to clean the monitor and mirror/glass so it all really looks great with or without the blacklight. Great game!!

I love the randomness of the ships. There are times near the end where I will get two of the 500 point ships one right after the other, and other games it won't show up at all. Still haven't reached 3,500 points for extended play. Topping out in the mid 2,000's so far. More practice.

if it's a new bulb, then you probably have a bad starter...that little silver or possibly white round thing that is on the fixture somewhere...
