Picking up a McDonalds merry-go-round.

Fred Flintstone

I got the Flintstone from some dude on Craigslist a few years back who couldn't fit it in the moving truck last day. It is a Flintstones multivitamin shelf/rack display. We covered the front with a dyed lookalike Fred shirt and tie to cover the shelves. Could use it for dvds, cds or small books for kids.

Sorry if I'm going off topic here, but for you Flintstones fans, check this out.
Some guy from Kijiji ( in Toronto ) is selling this cool ride, I made an offer but no go.

I picked one up for my daughter's birthday, kids just loved it. The top canopy won't fit in my basement so I have it (with the support poles) in the garage, too bad, it looks great complete. There is also a music box inside the unit, I took mine out as one of the chips is burnt out, so I need to replace that. Apparently it plays carousel/circus type music. The previous owner was asking for $3000 for this.

There were two styles you have the other style thats different then mine. Still very cool though. The Fred Flintstone is ausome.

Thanks Dave, I forgot to mention that although the last owner was asking 3 Gs, he dropped the price down to $300 later as he needed it out fast. I saw the style that you have for sale at an auction for $2600 US. They are a hard find.

Yeah..post some pictures of that Fred Flintstone...what does he do..? Never seen one like that....that would look cool next to my Flintstone Lucky Egg machine..:D

I would love to find one of the lucky egg machines!! It seems like they were everywhere when I was a kid, but I've never ran across one for sale...

Thats amazing. I had no idea what it was worth. Do you know if it sold for that much. I would trade mine for a cool looking seeburg Jukebox, the cool old type where you can see the record play. I think that would be 50's to early 60's if there was anyone interested in doing something like that.Otherwise I like it you dont see them very often.

Hey Dave, here is a link to that auction
http://www.goantiques.com/detail,mechanical-mcdonalds-merry,1608451.html
they also show other fast food memorabilia and such.
I have also seen very few others in the same price range. They are highly sought collectibles by McDonalds collectors.

Yeah it is. I remember riding those as a kid. When McDonald's actually used all their cartoonish characters like the Hamburgular and Grimace. Although, Ronald McDonald always sort of creeped me out.

gosh this thread is awesome!

:D :D I thought youwere being sarcastic for a minute. It is a tad off the beaten path as being arcade related. When I get it together I'll post an updated thread with nice pictures. I'm having alittle trouble finding a center pipe for it. I went to a steel mill and standard pipe doesnt come in 3 1/4 OD He said pipe only comes in 2 1/2", 3" , or 3 1/2" He said it's probly listed as tubing since its thin walled. I'll keep looking I'll find it. Later...Dave

Nothing can kill the Grimace.

May I quote Wikipedia on McDonaldland.
"McDonaldland itself, as it was depicted in the commercials, was a magical place where plants, foods, and inanimate objects were living, speaking characters. In addition to being the home to Ronald and the other core characters, McDonaldland boasted "Thick Shake Volcanoes", anthropomorphized "Apple Pie Trees", "French Fry Bushes" (where McDonalds French Fries grew from bushes), "The Hamburger Patch" (where McDonald's hamburgers grew out of the ground like plants), "Filet-O-Fish Lake", and many other fanciful features based around various McDonald's menu items. In the commercials, the various beings are played by puppets or costumed performers, very similar to those used in the popular H.R. Pufnstuf program."

Now 40 years later, they're shocked that America as a whole is full of fat bastards. Here's a thought. If I made a kids cartoon that told 5 year olds to smoke crack, I bet 20 years later, there would be a hell of a lot of crack smokers in this country. Coincidence....perhaps, but I doubt it.

I say we need the EVIL GRIMACE to return and end Ronald's reign of tyranny. That clown bastard must die. ;)

..... And that flying birdie chick.

Always felt the flying birdie was 2nd generation McD's characters. She never really fit in IMHO.

Found this though...price is $15k!!!! WTF! I remember seeing these all the time when growing up. ugh.
