I've been thirsting for a Ms Pacman machine for as long as I can remember. I saw an ad come up on the local craigslist for a non working one for 100 bucks. I called then guy and he said I could come look at it. The next day I went to his house to check it out and I could smell burnt electronics when I opened the door to the machine. He said he had plugged it in earlier for a guy and the monitor started smoking. The machine had this strange wood looking plastic laminate on the sides.
The guy told me he purchased the game from the local chuck e cheese when they went out of business. This was interesting to me because it that store had closed around 1990 and I used to go there a lot. I figured I probably had played this very machine sometime in my lifetime.
I got the machine home and took a closer look at it and saw that the flyback was fried on the monitor. Everything looked original. I unplugged the monitor and fired up the game. All I get is a loud hum through the speaker. When I try coining up the game, the coin counters turn, but I don't get any games sounds. I looked at the edge connector and it is burnt pretty badly. I ordered a new deluxe rebuild kit from Bob Roberts and am sending the board out for repair. I'm so excited to have a working Ms Pacman machine and for only 100 bucks. I'd try to repair the board on this thing myself since pacman repair is so well documented, but I just want to have the thing working and I don't have a ton of time on my hands right now. I'll post more pictures after I clean up the rest of the game and peel the sticker off the other side. Check how vivid the paint is from being protected under the sticker.

Wow, those color are vibrant. Did you ever find out why laminate was put on the sides? I understand the feeling that you would rather pay someone to do the work just so it's taken care of and you can play. It is always a great feeling when you buy a machine that you used to play all the time back in your childhood.

Cool find, you don't see colors like that everyday. You'll have it working in no time. I recommend a Pac multi-kit if you can find one!

NICE!! I saw that one! I knew for $100 someone was going to get a good deal! CONGRATS! Glad to see a KLOVer got it! And its your grail non the LESS! Enjoy!

The Guy told me he had a ton of people. Calling aboutth it. I've never seen one this cheap in this good of condition around here.

The laminate was on the side because they did that to every game at the local Chuck e cheese. He had a missle command, pacman, and space invaders deluxe also and they all had that ugly wood grain sticker on the side. I'm happy they did it cause it really preserved the color.

Nice find!

And heck yeah, that wood covering protected the sides! Cool!

What does the multi pac kit consist of? Is it just some different roms? If it is does anyone have the bin files so I can create new chips?

If the Year your saying is Right that Was a Showbiz Pizza Place in 1990? Look too see if you have a Metal plate on the back of the machine that says soo?

If it has that plate and you don'nt want it i would be interested in it.

There isn't a metal plate on the back that I recall, but its not for sale anyways.

The middle command had a board problem and I'm not sure of he'd sell it or not. It had the same laminate on the side of it also. PM me and ill give you his contact info if you'd like.

Repaired the Monitor

Well I replaced the flyback on my G05 monitor and installed a cap kit last night. I fired it up and it seems to be working. I don't have a board I can easily plug into the monitor to see if it is working correctly yet. There was no smoke and when I turn the screen control up it goes to white so it seems to be working fine. I'll find out once I receive my board back. I also peeled off the other side of the plastic laminate paper and the other side is just as bright and vivid as the first side. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to remove the adhesive left over by the laminate without messing up the paint on the side of the cab?
