Galaga!

The guy listed it today and he lives 5 minutes from my place which is only a couple of blocks away from my work. So I went during my lunch. It was meant to be. :)

Overall, it's in great shape. The edges along the bottom are a bit worn and the back door has some damage, but the marquee, front glass and side art are in great shape. The CPO isn't bad but will need to be replaced. The game is working 100% with no issues as far as I can tell right now. I do remember playing this classic as a kid and enjoying it because it was easy to pick up (though not easy to play). The sounds are very memorable as well. It also came with an original manual in great condition with all schematic fold outs intact.

Pictures to follow.

Sweet ! I saw this on CL thought about buying it . Great score man . How much did you get it for?

He was asking $300 and I talked him down to $250. I'm no Bally/Midway expert, but I'm hoping I got a good deal based on the condition of the cab and that it's 100% working.

If it's anything, I would have GLADLY paid $250 for it, if I had the money and it were availible to me.

I think you did very well.

Awesome score... can't wait to find my own one of these days

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. :)

I know this is a newbie question and I don't know if it's taboo, but is it hard to convert this to 60-1? I was told that the JAMMA to Galaga adapters are sold out and that I would need to use a different type of joystick that could fit in the 2-way guide. Just wondering what my options are later if I do choose to do so.

Nice score, Jess! You got a great deal for $250. My wife and I both love Galaga - I guess I should try to find one, lol. If I were going to go the 60 in 1 route, I would build a new cp with a trackball. I think Arcadeshop sells them. I'd keep the wiring as original as possible too, so you can go back to the original Galaga if you wanted to. Post some more pics when you get it home!

Thanks Greg! Yeah, I don't have any intention of tampering with the original wiring. A new CP doesn't sound like a bad idea. Just need to find an adapter and the right multiboard. But for now, it will be plain old Galaga goodness.

Okay, I want to change my opinion from "nice score" to "Holy Crap! You stole it!" :D Wow, just wow... and it works, too! A little repair work on the back door is nuthin'.

I'd love to see pictures of you Galaga lined up with the other games. It's got great art on your.

I like to play a little Galaga here and there once in a while. There's no need for me to own myself because Galaga seems to be one of the few games i'm always coming across in the wild!

There you go Ghostlyguy.

By the way, Bally/Midway cabs are deceivingly heavy. I thought it was going to be as easy to move as a Nintendo cab. Man, I was mistaken. And I know the coin door lights are out. I need to get new bulbs.

ms pac and galaga always commands a higher price, 250 is a great price for a working machine in good shape

Hey Jess, your game room looks even better now that you have acknowledged that Nintendo was not the only game company. :)

Looks like a fun mix of games.
