Ran into a buddy the other night. He has a bunch of cabs and runs a small route in town. Mentioned that he is trying to get cash together for the upcoming auction in MN on the 16th. He is selling a few things and wanted to know if I was interested in his spare Mario Bros Widebody cab before he threw it on Craiglist. Said it was in working condition but needed a little cosmetic work on the CPO, Bezel, and t-moulding. I have been wanting to pick up a MB cab for quite some time as it is the cab on the top of my wantlist but I never seem to have the correct amount of cash available when one comes for sale. In fact, was looking at Chris25810's on CL but couldn't make it happen... I bought Low-Gain's Popeye cocktail instead
. So I ask how much he wants for it. He says, "Well, I was going to put it on CL for $300 but you could have it for $200. And I'll even deliver it." That's all he needed to say.
So I still owe him $200 by 10/16 and have half of it ready to go right now but the game is now in my basement. If you would like to help offset the cost of this purchase, I do have a PC-10 Mario Bros pcb for sale... don't really have a use for it anymore. This cab looks really decent with side art that is sufficient for my needs. But he and I were chatting when he delivered it and helped me bring it down that it looks almost like it had been near a really intense heat source whether that be a furnace or a fire in a building or something. He spent a few hours lastnight cleaning off layers of black grime and he threw a beautiful monitor in there. The bezel looks like it was heated up so hot that it just started warping and some of the t-moulding on top of the cab has started bubbling. Also, the cpo is missing on the front 2" of the CP which has let the CP rust.
I'm planning on restoring this one slowly because outside of the overlay, bezel, and t-moulding, I'm really happy with it. Even my wife said it is the prettiest cab I own so that's probably a good thing. The cab plays great and the monitor is near flawless. And yes, I have already sent an email for the Widebody registry. It's #3012.
Here are the pics... I also attached a cell phone pic of the left side of the cab that I took at my buddy's shop before it was delivered today. Side art is a little more chewed up on that side than the right but honestly, I don't care.
