Picked up Attila the Hun for $75...Some Concerns...HELP

Hey guys, I picked up the Attila the Hun that I was talking about a week or so ago. I got it for $75 and after taking it home and looking at it, boy is it worse than I thought.

They included what looks like a new set of boards for it which is nice. But cosmetically it's awful. When I picked it up, it was covered in snow. (See the pictures) My BIGGEST concern involves the backglass. From the front, it just looked like it was bubbling up. I thought, no problem, I'll just use the Krylon/Plastic Wrap method and fix it up...but after taking the glass off...some idiot decided to do his own method. Someone took packaging tape and scotch tape and taped across pretty much the entire backglass...UGH!

Anyone know of any ways to fix this disaster of a backglass? Or where I can get a NOS or Repro of it?

Also, what are your general thoughts about this machine, was it worth it for $75?

PS, the playfield looks in tact, but needs a GOOOOD cleaning. There's sh*t growing on it.

I would still consider a coat of triple thick. Tape and all. I would have to see it in person to really say if that's a good idea but it might be one of the only options to get some more life out of it. At least it will be stuck together in one big chunk. If it were solid the way it is and didn't look like big chunks were going to start falling off I might just leave it.

You did fine for the price (IMO). What's $75 in the grand scheme of things? Worst case you can just part it out and hopefully make some money on it.

Yeah, I figured for $75 you can't really go wrong. Especially if everything "works" like he said it did. If anything, it will make for a fun project, and it seems to be a decent game from what I've seen.

I might leave it for now, but it really does look just awful from the back. I'd REALLY love to find a replacement, or even a reproduction. But for now I think I'll work on the electronics and cabinet and get to the backglass eventually. It just bothers me to think that I might be putting a lot of time/money into it and end up with no backglass.

To me that glass doesn't look that bad. Once it's in the game I'm sure it will look fine. Not brand new fine but not "$75" game fine either.

EDIT: Looking closer at the pictures I definitely wouldn't clear over the tape and translucent plastic that's covering the score windows. I would cut those out with a razor blade. Then you might be able to clear over what's left.

Well...

$75 is a good price for a working pinball machine, and you can sell the parts for way more than that, some of those Game Plan parts are very hard to come by.

Before you decide to pack it away for a while, look at the MPU boards, they put a rechargeable battery on the MPU to save the high scores. Most if not all of them have leaked and ruined the MPU. If yours hasn't leaked, remove that battery so it does not leak and do any damage. The machine will work just fine without the battery, it just will not save the high score. You can easily replace the battery with a "battery capacitor" that will save the high score, and wil never leak and damage the MPU.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the boards tomorrow, I read a little about it over at pinrestore. They have a nice section for Game Plan restorations. I'm hoping it doesn't come down to me having to part it out. I'd really like to fix it up. Seems like a decent game. I think first thing I want to do is get all the electronics wired and working. Once I have a working game then I'll make the decision if I want to fully restore it or not.
