picked up an old tv a few weeks back for a tube swap, now I need help

I pulled off the case today, and started getting it taken apart. I have a tube number but it's not in my book. Somewhere a few weeks back I found a chart that lists all of the tubes, and it must have been updated because it had a lot of tubes listed that weren't in my book either. (wish I would have bookmarked that one dammit)

my tube # is: A48KRD82X I pulled out my 23 adapter and it fits right on !!!! I'm excited about that part

anyway, I do have a yoke and rings from a g07 I can install on here, but where do I measure the ohms or whatever to see what the readings are to determine if I even need to change it?

Usually most yokes have red and blue wires, and then another pair. Put your meter on ohms and read across the red/blue pair (horiz) then the other pair (vert).

so I went out and started messing around with the DMM.

I put the leads on this new television, one on red one on blue, my readings were between 3.8 and 4.3. Then one lead yellow, one lead green, readings were 15.3-15.9

went to my g07 yoke I pulled off of a broken tube last week, the wire colors are like red, white, grey and brown, so I just touched points until I got readings.

one reading was 3.9, the other was 56.4

Is there any reason I shouldn't just put the g07 yoke and rings on this thing and toss a chassis on there and go for it?

there is no real reason I need to use the current television yoke, right.

Go for it - carefully. Some tubes have a neck which is a different shape, and the yoke won't fit properly. If it's the proper one, it'll slide all the way down to the tube, otherwise there will be a substantial gap.

Use the go7 yoke, but make sure to use the rings on the donor tube.
As those are calibrated to that tube.. It's a mistake I made in the beginning.

sweet I knew you'd chime in at some point. so throw on the g07 yoke and put the television rings back on, on top of it. I will do that, thanks man.

Your welcome.. Also, keep both yoke and rings loose.. As your gonna have to move them around a bit to get it converged.. Especially the rings. Move the whole rings as a group, up and down the neck of the tube to adjust.. Once its dialed in best as you can, then lastly you can move each ring if needed.. But usually you don't need to..

Haven't had much luck with go7s.. But others have.. K7000 and 4900s are my fav.

so I got the swap going pretty good. I have odd colors at the edges. Red on one side, green on the other. I have twisted the yoke a bit and I saw how it straightened/moved the picture, I have slid the rings back and forth a touch, but not too much.

1. Can I touch the yoke and the rings without getting shocked to hell.
2. should I start moving the rings and see what I get

If you have color issues on each side, its because the yoke is to far or to close.. Move the yoke slowly back and forth from tube down neck while game is on. You'll notice the colors come and go on the edges.

Ok here are some pics, you can see (hopefully) the high score 50,000 has a blue shadow to it. adjusting all 5 of the color pots did nothing. Looks pretty killer though

now, how do I secure the yoke so it won't move?

you know what fuck this shit. why the hell does klov now reject 80% of the pictures I take. (exactly the same way I used to take them)?

fuck
