picked up an asteroids today, but have some problems....

1. I feel like the tracers left from: my fire, streaking asteroids, etc. tend to linger a bit too long. maybe I just need to turn down the brightness?

2. the sound tends to go from normal to low-ish to normal to low-ish and I definitely don't get any sounds from a saucer flying through.

I just put in a completely rebuilt power board (thanks secret santa) didn't even have an asteroids yet, lol.

where should I start?

Nice score TG, Asteroids is so much fun. I was having some tracer problems with mine I changed out my big blue with a new one from real Bob and no more issues. Not sure if that will cure the issues you have but I aways start at the "Big Blue" now.

Indeed a fun and challenging game! I'm not sure about the sound issue, but you definitely can eliminate the trace lines by turning down the brightness on the flyback.

Look at the schematics, they are well labeled as to which chip controls what sound. I think it will be a 555 or 556 (566?) 6 pin chip. I am guessing that my be your problem, but you would need to verify.

I didn't look super hard, but where is the brightness knob on this monitor?

also, where do I find a schematic? I tried looking at the one on crazykong.com but it wasn't working for me.
