Picked up a Williams HUO Robotron 2084 and Joust

When the green wire burns up like that, I generally replace the whole connector and the header on the power supply board. Based on the picture other that the caps on the PS board, it looks pretty clean. That should be an easy rebuild.

If you on't feel like rebuilding the PS board. I do them for $20 + parts + return shipping. PM for details. Unfortunately I can't do house calls that far away or I'd stop by and rebuild the connector too.

I am doing the same thing on the Moon Patrol I picked up today. The monitor works, it is just the power supply. The green wire burned up the connector and the pin on the hearder. Hopefully the game boards work as well.

beyond my tech level to perform myself but I'll be sure to get it done. So is the rebuild kit an upgrade or just a replacement to the parts?

If you can make a bowl of cereal, you can cap a Williams Power Supply!

Seriously, it's very simple and there isn't the slight risk of getting shocked like a monitor cap kit. Best of all, power supply traces are robust and almost newbie proof and it's impossible to install the plugs backwards.

It's the ultimate best *first* cap kit, trust me, dig in and you'll enjoy it. Besides, if you're going to own these games, then you owe it to yourself to learn a little about repair.

Those ground wires always get hot. Replace the molex connector and add a jumper to the black ground back over to the next pin in the molex. You can look at the power board and see where there is an adjacent ground pin. You should replace the pins too. The double ground will distribute the current flow better.

The Robotron has a green wire going from the transformer to a molex connector that goes to a smaller board...the connector has a burn mark and the green wire is loose...I have to try and reinstall it into the molex connector...

I'm in the process of doing cap kits on all 4 of my williams power supplies. i only have 2 games, so I will most likely sell the other 2. Was planning to sell them once I got around to putting the sound pot on my jamma joust so I could sell that as well, but if you want one, I could probably sell it to you.

Nice score btw. I'm jealous. I'm not even a big fan on Robotron, but for $40, I can't say much.

Nice! Must be working off the good karma you received for the arcade game donation.

I was thinking the same thing! What a great score. Forty bucks for that Robotron is just plain nuts... I always leave contact info with anyone who has a game for sale on craigs or elsewhere, but I've never gotten a call back accepting my offer.

...you should have never told anyone what you paid for them. If you do decide to sell, it will be away from KLOV thats for sure. These heathens will remind you that you got this for $40. Mistake #1 in cheapbastardville is telling what you paid. Come on, rook!

Oh, nice get :D

I'll give you 1000 for the pair.

I really hate you. In iowa you get a rotten cabinet and a cockroach for 240.
