Picked up a Trident today for free.

Short story is my uncle has owned it since the early 80's. When he moved in the early 90's, he had it in his garage. He then moved it to a barn and then finally outside under a tarp!

Fortunately, its only been outside for a month. Its filthy, non working and has acid damage on the MPU. The damage is not that bad and only has taken out about 27 components.

Looking forward to getting this going again. I know its not a spectacular title. Have to start somewhere!

Could have been much worse from all the pictures I've seen of damaged MPU's

I thought I remember you selling a Tag-Team? Time to come out of the closet :)

HA!

I forgot about that POS. It was trade fodder for my Star Wars upright. This one is a "try and repair" and keep type.

Good save !!! It`s a shame you did`nt get it back when it was leaving the garage...

Just ordered an MPU-100 repair kit from greatplains. I had to add a few odds and end parts to cover all of the damaged bits. Looking forward to getting this going.

Are the Stern legs and coindoors actually painted silver? I havent looked that close yet and it appeared to be paint.

Maybe it's not up there with Eight Ball Dlx, but that's one of the neater looking classic Stern games. I'd definitely put the time and money into restoring a cheap/free one.

I started the repair tonight. What a tremendous pain in the ass! I managed to remove 6 components and 2 sockets in 90 minutes. Looking forward to finishing this up this weekend!

Get a Hakko 808 desoldering gun.
Best $160.00 I ever spent...(Fry's electronics)
Makes removing components a breeze!

I am using the Rat Shack $10 cheepie and it is working out great for me so far! I am saving for the Hakko though.

Progress pic from yesterday. We had some friends over so I couldnt get back on it tonight. I am doing a some light sanding as I go along. I plan on using the dremmel when I have all the corroded bits off the PCB. So far so good. Heres a b4 and after:
