I picked up a Rally X that was on CL. No pics and it was an hour away so I was a little concerned that I was wasting my time and gas but I was in the mood for picking up a game so I figured "what the heck". I was surprised how nice it was! The only part of the artwork that could stand to be replaced is the bezel due to some flaking, but the rest is in awesome shape. The g07 could use a little restoration but the game runs fine. Not one of my "must haves" but it was cheap enough to be worth it. :)

I think I've seen that New Rally X is nothing more than a rom swap. Might need to research that a bit more and give that a try (anyone that knows feel free to chime in).

Question for anyone who knows this cabinet: Is the paint supposed to be speckled? Tan paint with tiny brown speckles? It looks like it was done like that from the factory but I didn't know that was ever done (this is the first time I've seen it).

congrats, nice looking game. yes it's suppose to have the speckles on the cab, your bezel doesn't look too bad either compared to mine. I've been trying to find a really nice one for years now it seems to be a more difficult part to find. I was thinking of just getting paint markers and try touching up the missing paint and then spray some triple thick to seal it.

I'm officially jealous. Rally X is one of my core favs. At least there is some solace in the fact that I picked up a nice Frogger from Darryl yesterday - Thanks again Darryl!

Mike, if you figure out a good solution, LMK! Have you considered getting a repro from mamemarquees (gameongraphix)? They have one but it doesn't look the same (http://www.gameongrafix.com/products/rally-x-fantasy-or-generic-bezel) but maybe it warrants scanning the bezel, fixing up the image, and having them print it? I haven't checked to see if they do glass or plexi only. It would of course be nice to stick with glass if possible.

yes thanks, I remember seeing these on their site, I wonder why they don't look like whats on the upright. I'd rather find a clean original glass. there method is a scan you wedge between two glasses or plexis or a decal you stick on top of glass.

Man, I sure am jealous! Rally X is amazing. Congrats on picking up such a cool game. Aside from the bezel, it looks to be in pretty nice shape too.

My first dedicated game was almost a Rally X. I got outbid in a local auction. I rarely play it on the MAME cab, but I enjoy a few games a year. I haven't seen another Rally X for sale around here since then. Nice pickup!

Any of you RX owners... This block of wood was sitting in the bottom of my cab. It doesn't look like it belongs to it, but before I toss it and find out later I shouldn't have, does it belong to the cab and if so what purpose?

Very nice! It's great to hear when people actually do have a good transaction on CL.Too many times I read of horrific ones.

Same block of wood in ours. I noticed it today. It is sitting under the coin box.

Weird. I wonder what it's for then. I checked the manual and don't see anything on the cabinet parts list that looks like it would be this item. I'm missing the removable cash box. I don't imagine it would become any more obvious if I had it though.

Another question - it looks like these didn't have lights behind the 25 cents inserts?

None of my Midway cabs have lights behind the inserts...

Thanks. It certainly appeared that way. Other than R-X my oldest Bally/Midway is Ms Pacman or Kick Man (not sure which came first), so I haven't seen one without lights yet.
