picked up a new pin today....really came out of the blue

i was totally not looking for a new pin right now, but a buddy of mine texted me out of the blue last night and gave me the heads up on a white water pin that popped up near myrtle beach. he knew it was on my "list." the ad went up at 8:27pm and i had an email out the door by 9:06pm and a follow up at around 10:30pm. finally heard back from them this morning around 9:30am and they still had it......told the lady that i was hitting the shower and heading her way and asked her NOT to sell it to anybody before i got there (which turned out to be a very good move....she had THREE calls while i was on the way in which she was begged to sell it. but she kept her word to me. god bless honest people).

i drove completely across the state today....about 3:30 hours or so from aiken to conway (SC), but i think it was worth it. picked up my dad on the way and made a road trip of sorts out of it....we had sandwiches and everything. lol.

anyway, here's the new pin...............WHITE WATER!!!

the cabinet is in pretty decent shape....one side has fading, one side doesn't (see pics). honestly, i don't care a whole helluva lot about the cab......if it's not water damaged and/or falling apart, it's probably OK in my book. LOL.

i've got some GI lights out, a missing pop bumper "boulder" cap, two missing targets (the lock targets....likely shattered from what i understand of the typical wear/tear of this machine), and i'm pretty sure i need a rebuild kit for the top right flipper. other than that, it needs a nice cleaning and i think it'll be in pretty good shape.

i paid $1300 for it. considering it's in working condition, the topper is present, there's no playfield wear, and i only need a few minor things "repaired", i think that was a pretty good price.

i wont speak of anywhere other than texas!

but i have seen that one sell in the 1500-2000 range, usually the later

i think you did ok, all the expensive stuff works i take it, so replace those targets, bumper cap, and shop her up

not to mention that beer holder adds a few bucks lol

Nice pickup. You've done really good lately. I've never played Whitewater, but I was just watching Bowen's tutorial video this evening. Looks like a lot of fun.

BTW, link to the video:

It made me feel better watching it, his first ball lasts over 13 minutes and then the game is done in about 15 minutes. Seems like the same for me, one good ball followed by two stinkers.

1300 is a steal! Congrats, great game!

thanks, man.......i figured even with some of the minor repairs i'm gonna have to face and with the cleaning i'm gonna have to do, that this was a very good price. i appreciate the props.

my only fear is now, that i get it home, get the hours into it, and it has some rare problem with the DMD and CPU board that only rears it's ugly head AT LEAST an hour and half into gameplay.......LMAO!!!! now THAT'S my luck. ;)

lucky for you, we all love pinball too... if your dmd goes out altogether and sudden, then you need to do a hv rebuild on the dmd controller(easy and only about 6 dollars)

cpu.....another story, as long as it isnt corroded bad, just install a remote battery, if the f-115 fuse ever blows, look at i *believe* u-20 on the mpu,

That's a very good price for a WH20.

Have you checked to see what the issues are with the credit dot?

Well, I'm jealous as hell. That's pretty dirty, but still nice. For the price you bought it, you could fix it up and EASILY make more money on it. That's sure as hell what I wouldn't do, but you could. Nice find! :(

Awesome score. I paid a bit less than double that for mine. Seems like a lot of people getting this game lately.

I'd pay 2500 for a nice one.... problem is NOBODY is selling this. So the supposed "cheap" price of these aren't so cheap anymore. That at Shadow are two "cheap" games that are impossible to find, because nobody wants to sell them for the price they are supposedly going for.

Agreed. Mine is really nice, has the topper, etc... but I definitely paid closer to the high end of what it's "worth". Some of it was trade through so I still did alright.

I have the same problem of availability in my area. Some games just never seem to come up so when they do you have a bunch of buyers and the price is high.

EXACTLY, as i and others(lindsey among MANY others) have said, that geographic area has a big impact on supply and demand= prices, so while a shadow is more expensive in say the midwest, it may be considerably less in california or texas, and other games may be alot cheaper in the northeast than say the deep south

it is sketchy at best to assign values to a pin due to this, so i preface what i say by saying it's what ive seen in texas only,

not sure why you feel the need to attack me(john) , when you just proved my point

I love my WH20... I bet you will too!
Its an awesome pin and it sounds like you got it for a great price too :)
cheers

around here, i think i could sell it as-is and make a nice profit. but i plan to keep it for a long while....it was one of the ones on my short list.
