the rear asset tag is pretty faded. It matches the number in the door. probably can't get a good pic.

the door one should be no problem. Flash messed it up.

did not think of a back door part number. That makes sense.

Nice find!!! :)

What serial # is the board? What's the sticker on the program ROM? Can you tell what ROM version you have?

I will retake the asset tag pic in the coin door later.

I think the eprom says 035822-03e ( I will recheck that when I take new pics)

the only info on the board says:
tested aug 20, 1980

and has written on it
037190

That's interesting. I wonder if the board was an engineering unit they used to test the -03 rev ROM. The -03 ROM pops up on a board every blue moon (and it's always the xxxx22) but I'm still not sure what the change was. I know that from -01 to -02 the code was updated to allow for upgraded trackball ability (IIRC) in cocktail mode, but not sure about the -03.

Were you able to get any info or backstory from the guy you bought it from?

2nd try at pics was pretty much fail.. the asset tag is a little better. board pic did not come out. But it does say 035822-03e and atari written above it.

here is a better pic of the asset tag:

Did anyone ever figure our what the difference is with a 22-03E? One of my boards has that chip.

I have 2 dead ones and was cleaning leads and wanted to verfiy cksums in the burner and 22 failed then I looked at it was an 03e not an 02. so I burned a new 02 and set aside the 03e

Curious as to what may be different with this rom?

picked up this missile command from a ex atari employee. Game is interesting in that it has no tags on it other than the atari asset tags.

I am betting that since there is Atari asset tags, it may have been in the employee break area or something (owned by Atari). With no serial number tag, I would bet it is a pre-production game or maybe just one that was destined to stay in house. The Dig Dug cabaret that I picked up from a former employee has no tags what so ever. I was told that it came out of the "engineering lab".

Scott Evans would be a good one to chat with on this.

So, does anyone know what changed in the 3rd ROM set?

I've heard mention of a 3rd set before, but never seen one. It'd be nice to understand how this version is different.

Nice machine. I have one in similar nice condition. I replaced the trackball with a new complete kit from Ram Controls and its really nice. Funny thing is, I don't play it very often and I really suck at the game. As much as my brain tells me to sell it, I just cant. It's so hard to replicate that feel in a MAME.
