I grabbed a nice Juke the other day and want to swap out a bunch of the 45's. I know others have jukes in their gamerooms so I was hoping a couple of you could chime in and point me to a good source for 45's.

I get alot of my new 45's from oldies.com, they even have some box sets of 50's~80's music. If you don't need new records then ebay wholesale lots are a good place to build your collection fast and cheep. I payed 10 dollars including shipping for over 200 80's records and out of that I kept about 90 of them. So you can get some good deals, just use your ebay smarts.

check around your area for stores that carry used records; most will have at least a small stash of 45's.

near me there are several places that deal almost exclusively in vinyl; the best has about 10,000 unsorted 45's tucked away under the LP tables and priced at 50 cents each. i don't expect that every city has such a gold mine as this but it's worth checking around for. he also has a section of sorted and higher-priced ($1-$5) singles but i've found some of the same stuff in both areas.

i've picked up some pretty good stuff at thrift stores and second hand book stores that deal in media (like Half Price Books.) prices can range from a quarter to a couple of bucks.

i like to find my stuff locally instead of ordering on-line; a $1 record can be five or six times as much to ship safely; for that price i can buy a dozen at my favorite shop. i can also judge condition before making a purchase, though since they're going in a jukebox some wear doesn't bother me as long as it plays without skipping.

For individual 45's, check your local record stores and local thrift stores. Also, my local "Half Price Books" store has bins of used 45s, and I've bought a bunch of good ones there.

As mentioned, you can get cheap lots of 50, 100, or more on ebay. You usually don't know exactly what's in them, so it's hit-or-miss. I once bought a box of 100 that seemed promising; there ended up only being about 20 in it that I wanted.

There are a bunch of places online where you can buy 45s - either new reproductions or originals. Here are some that I've bookmarked. (I haven't actually ordered from any of these yet.)

Look for your local ma & pa record store and ask if they know (they should) if there is any record shows around town. Here in St. Louis, is one a couple times a year and is a great chance to find some good/rare stuff. I'm going to one on November 4th.

Now show us a photo of your new juke!

Good Idea lol!!
It's not really the model I was after (want a Rock-old 488) but the price was right and it looks almost new, it also sounds great!
I'm planning a few lighting modifications
to spruce it up a bit and I'll post a video once I'm done. It will definitely do until I run across the Rock-ola.

Thats an NSM Prestige I think from the very late 70s early 80s. I have a City II NSM which is a more modern rock lock. NSM jukes are really great sounding.

My lighting mods will rock it out a bit ;)
The City II has the same internals as the Prestige actually, it does look more modern though, it's also bigger.

They still have those near you? I don't think I have seen a record store in 10-15 years!

we have at least four vinyl-centric stores in Tacoma (Drastic Plastic, Hi-Voltage, Turntable Treasures & House of Records, and Golden Oldies,) and there are several more in Seattle.

Cool!
when you get time, swing in and grab me some old Van Halen (not Van Hagar), Iron Maiden and Kiss =)
