Pretty beat down machine (playfield might clean up nice, but lots of little things wrong with it), but I'm hoping it can be made to look nice enough to keep again.

So far I'm seeing:

- swing panel in backbox was unhinged for God knows how long which caused card wheel to rub against backglass, as a result the wheel decal is bubbly and the backglass has a couple semi-circle rub marks;

- beer damage (nooooo) under where coin bucket was, front 6" or so of bottom piece will probably need to be routed out and replaced with new plywood;

- front and sides of backbox have significant paint wear, dings, and lockbar hole... I know nobody makes Jokerz! stencils, but I was hoping the press start might be a stock graphic someone made one for... after a brief search looks like it isn't;

And the speaker grills need a repaint, it needs new score cards, flippers don't work (think everything else does though) and the list goes on. Already ordered about $300 worth of new stuff for it, just looking for some odds and ends yet.

Speaking of odds and ends, I would really like to find any of the following:

- card wheel, or just the decal
- backglass (figure I will just triple thick and touch mine up, but if someone has a NOS one to sell...)
- upper playfield translite(s) (I think the playfield itself on mine is in decent, working shape, but it is clear even now that the translite underlay is warped to shit)
- new Rottendog repro electronics (either the LED replacement displays, repro PSU, or repro MPU, never hurts to have spares)
- NOS plastics, upper playfield

I will post pics later of the machine, but I think I also found a nice freebie in the machine and am not sure what it is exactly. It's a sweet little black duramold case with the Williams logo on it. Not sure what it is for, did these pins include spares cases? Is it a technician's tool case minus the tools? Pic:

EDIT: Gol'durnit it's just the coin box lol. XD

Wow that was in the machine? It looks too big. Is it 2 cases or is that darker colored one the top? Really cool, I don't know what it is but it must have been for tools or equipment. Score!

...

Ha I'm a retard. It has coin slots on it. D'oh!

That is still hella cool tho, I've never seen a original handled plastic coin box like that. My Road Kings didn't have one. Looks like it has an indent for some sort of lock, too?

I ordered a new mylar for this as well. Does anyone have experience with removal of existing mylar? I don't want to have to do a shitload of touchup to the playfield.

Getting pretty deep into tearing it down now. Pinball Life started taking orders again so got most of the other parts I will need ordered, even picked up a rivet pressing kit from pinrestore.com and a custom LED kit.

I think at this point I will need to replace the mylar and do touchups to be satisfied with the result on this.

And man are these ramps fucked lol. The mini playfield looks like hell, already stripped off the decal and am working on un-warping it and removing the most horrible adhesive ever. I've decided the only thing to do for it is take some stainless scrap from work and make a custom backplate for it for support. The center ramp looks like bulb heat warped it, then the ball got stuck, that heated up, and it left a big dent. Hoping with some clamping and heat I can melt it back to functional. And the final ramp has a crack on both sides of the entry and sag near the toggle switch hole. So more custom stainless brackets and riveting will be required...

More pics, including mini PF.

And anbody know if you can do home vaccuum molding to remake stuff like ramps and mini PFs...? I'm guessing that plastic is too thin or flimsy for objects subject to impact?

Oh, almost forgot, when I bought it the flippers didn't work, neither did the drop target banks. Turns out all the 50VDC accessories were not working due to a bad fuse for 50VAC. Gotta love those easy fixes. :)

I wouldn't put any mylar back on it. Games play much better without it. It's really not needed for home use. I have had good luck pulling mylar with a hair dryer. Came of perfect with no paint or insert loss.

totally underrated pin. i hadn't played it in years and played it last weekend and it's great! i'd put it next to fun house and high speed and cyclone as the best of their era.

nice find and good luck with the restoration.
