Found a Sega Astro City cab locally and jumped on it immediately. Been looking for one of these ever since I went to Japan last fall

Got a new populated CP coming with new sanwa buttons/sticks/CPO.

Now I need to pick up some Jamma boards!

Anyone else sporting a candy cab in their line up? Any suggestions for PCBs?

Nice catch!
I have three candy's myself.
An Astro, New Astro and a Blast City.
Now get some Cave pcb's (mostly vertical shooters) Excellent stuff :)

Nice pick up. I have one myself. I consider these to be some of the best candy cabs

What are they worth? There is a company selling these cabs locally for $500ea and the ok baby cabinets for $400ea... I don't need another cab but they are certainly unique and was wondering if I should maybe add one to my collection.

Great machine! I've got 7 candy cabs (3 Super Neo 29's, 2 Crowns, 1 OK Baby, and 1 generic wooden one that used to be a gambling machine....now a PC-10). My suggestion? Get a CPS2 multi board, a netbooting Naomi, and any Raiden game.

It's easy to get hooked on candy cabs. They look and sound so good, and are generic enough that nobody cries over what games you put in them.

Exactly, to be honest I like them a lot more than dedicated cabs. It is why I love my Neo Geo.

My favorite cab

Is that like a DMD at the top? If so can you change what's on it?

Yes and not.basically if I put certain namco boards in it,it will conform to that game. Like tekken will show the characters and such. There are a few options to change myself to change the words but very limited. Just says some Japanese stuff or price play.

Great little machines and cool pick up! The CP on most of these is a pretty genius design, allowing you to just swap plates that have the buttons/sticks attached. On top of that, if the monitor rotates via a mechanism, then you can put damn near any JAMMA game in these things. Our attachment to gigantic chunks of wood that we have to stand in front of must have seemed really archaic and bizarre to the Japanese in the late 80's into the 90's.

As for myself, I have a "Kural 25" that has almost no info on the web...outside of someone else on KLOV selling one and a post of me saying I own one. :p It's sitting in a corner of my office waiting for me to find time to clean it up. :(

Does your Kural 25 look like this? I think it is really a SNK candy 25 that was rebranded. Maybe Kural means candy in some other language. Or a clone of some kind.

I had a cab like that a few years ago. I remember it had the SNK logo in one corner of the monitor glass.

That's it. Mystery solved. It does have the SNK on the corner of the glass as mentioned as well. It's a cool little machine. Completely metal.

Only SNK/Kural link I could find was that they were a publisher for Make Trax/Crush Roller.

Edit: actually, mine doesn't say Candy on the side blue trim. It's exactly like the one on the bottom pic.

Ho-lee crap. After looking at that pic again, it seemed really familiar... Now I know why. That actually is THE cab that I used to own. I bought it from the guy that posted it in the thread the pic links to.

lol, small world. I ended up selling it to someone else, I have no idea where it is now.
