Picked up a couple rare and unique pieces this weekend...
On my quest to find a new home for the extra Asteroids I had and fill space left from the sold Computer Space Ball, I worked out a trade for this Mappy in a DECO mini cabinet. Sort of a strange combination I know, but I dig the cabinet with the included stand, and I dig Mappy more than Astro Fighter, so I'll likely leave it as it is. It does have a legit Mappy board with some homebrew wiring and connector going to what I am guessing is the original DECO power supply. It works, but the board is only getting 4.7v, so I might put in a switcher. The game did have the original monitor plexi when I picked it up, but it mysteriously disappeared during the trek home. Although that sucks, it's more reason for me to have some custom artwork printed up sometime in the near future. Will also be adding some short legs to the base just to raise this up a few inches more for a more proper height.
While there, I took a look at other games and noticed this tiny little cocktail with some sort of space shooting game. Turns out the game is called Mars and is pretty rare. The game is like Scramble, Vanguard and Robotron all rolled into one. I'm usually not a fan of cocktails, but this was the smallest one I have ever seen and yet still somehow houses a 19" monitor. Also turns out the table was manufactured by a company in the same town this was in. The seller was pretty attached to this game because of that, but we started talking numbers and in the end I bought it for $300 with the promise that if I ever sold it he would be the first to know. Probably more than I would have liked to have paid especially considering the tube is pretty weak, but I just thought it was too neat.
Both of these are in decent condition. The Mars cocktail had some wear on the bottom, so I trimmed off about 2" and added casters to it, so it's super easy to move around and should prevent more damage in the future. I am debating making a removable base for it (much like the DECO has) and having the cocktail at stand-up height.
Anyway here's the photos...
