Also, your Homeland Security folks are cool as fuck. had a nice chat with one who was on patrol in his jeep as we were checking out the town

Very nice. I found a sheriff myself but unfortunately someone had converted it to space invaders. Chances of me finding two replacement dials are slim to none. I might try and replicate with a rotary switch. Any details on how that control works would be much appreciated.

For sure! Part of the whole point with me getting my hands on these is to do a full restoration on both. There will be videos and a ton of pictures as the projects go.

We don't celebrate April Fools in Canada.
That's an American thing ... so it seems ... :001_scool:

Besides, Chance has been hinting about the Sheriff for a few weeks now. That wasn't much of a surprise.

Well then damn, that's a hell of a pick up!

April Fools is Europe and Asia as well, I believe.

That's almost my neck of the woods. Did you leave any scraps for me?

Had them shipped up from Arizona. :D

We totally do. :p

Yes, but i bet you didn't see the other one coming too?

Wow these Sheriff cocktails just keep coming out of the woodwork! Must be into the double digits now?

Yeah, not many. This is the one that showed up on Craigslist in New Mexico back in January. It's taken some time to get here. Fred and I wanted to make sure it arrived safe.

Betting April Fool's....

Nope :D

Awesome. Welcome to the sheriff club. Population: not many.

Thanks!

So I spent some time last night doing an initial inspection of both games. a Slight teardown on the Sheriff and have come to a few conclusions. First, at some point that Helifire was painted black. It should be white/wood like other early Nintendo cocktails, this is something that will be rectified in the restoration.

Secondly, Both games are in AMAZING shape internally, pretty much 98% complete. The only things missing apart from locks and the cash boxes are missing leg levellers and a conversion to a switching power supply on the Sheriff, and the black paint on the Helifire. When we opened the control panels up on both we found factory fresh wraps on the extra part of the Helifire harnesses, and the feeling that we might be the first people to open the Sheriff CP's since it was assembled. There is zero trace of smoke, or on site damage leading me to believe that they were either home use only, or in a public arcade that was very well looked after and monitored.

Plan of attack is simple. I'm about 50% done my Ghouls n' Ghosts restoration. I'd like to finish that as i research the needs and in's and outs of these Early Nintendo games. Once i've got GnG in line and done im going to dive into the Sheriff first, then the Helifire. Full factory fresh restores.

Nice, like others have said, welcome to the VERY exclusive club.

You got the US version there. Those seem to be a little (very little) easier to find then the one I picked up.

I have the earliest version Japanese prototype Sheriff cocktail (black and white version). From what I researched, one of two in the world.

I can't wait to see the details on the inside of yours and compare notes on the differences between the two.

I'm just so happy the cocktails and rarer titles are starting to get some attention. I absolutely love the joystick on these... very unique.

Very cool pick up. Look forward to the threads.

Wow, the joystick and switch hardware looks as solid as a tank. Good god, that's looks like it could outlast the apocalypse.
