Oh this addiction! I'm actually quite sick of shopping out games...but, this Batman Forever came up locally and I got a pretty good deal on it...I've always wanted one of the Sega pins w/ the giant DMD....and this one's in pretty nice shape. Cab colors aren't faded (Robin's red is often pinkish-white), no drill holes...playfield is dirty, but will polish up nicely.

Three fuse clips are broken, so a bunch of stuff doesn't work...but I think it will all be fine once I repair that (and put some higher power Pinball Life coils on the flippers)

Nice! Congrats on the score! I am just up the road in Sacramento and recently picked up my first large DMD game which is Mary Shelleys Frankenstein. I like it. Let me know how Batman turns out...

Looks like a fun PF, what comes to mind is an RCT with all the ramps. Sega pins hard to find parts, reliability issues, what is the deal? Please I have notice that most good artwork has been Sega, but hows the mechanic's, reliabilty? I like Williams made machines as the "bullet proofing" Kings. Just my opinion is all, but if Sega did put a good product I will consider purchasing 1or 2 if parts can be accessed easily from on-line suppliers. Count me in!

nice grab........

Wow, ipdb ratings are very positive for this pin. Its funny, because the more I look into DE/Sega, the more great playing B theme games I find.

I'd take a great playing B theme game for $1000-$1200 over a great playing A theme for $2-$3k any day!

I agree totally. I love my Frankenstein and i picked it up for a steal (under 1k) and it is in sweet condition

Of all the pins I've had, I don't find any manufacturer's pins any more reliable than another. My Williams games have had things go wrong, burnt connectors, reset issues...they're not unbreakable!

Data East, Sega and Stern are the same company...so - parts are easy to find. You can use Stern coils on Sega games, for example. Seems like the hardest thing to get for DE/Sega games are plastic ramps...but anything technical is easy to get.

The main complaint on Sega games are that the flippers get weak as you play. However - over on RGP, Cliffy recently posted that he put Pinball Life's special LOTR coils on his Batman Forever, and that solved the weakness issue! Perhaps those coils will bring a new respect for the Sega pins?

Yeah, you definitely get a "bang for the buck" factor...and, depending on your preferences - a theme might be an A-theme (for you).

Batman Forever is kind of a "poor mans STTNG" ...but maybe you hate Star Trek and love Batman....score!

Now I need a Baywatch for my Sega collection...hehe

Amen to that.

This is generally true, but when you get down to the last 2-3 spaces in your collection, your eyes generally get wide for those high-end games.

Or you start measuring up the backyard to build an addition for an even bigger game room!

Amen to that one.

I think SEGA/DE pins have a bad rap due to them NOT being williams. A lot of the pinball elite only want Bally/Williams. (that's just from personal experience.) Now once you get into the Xfiles area of Sega Pins, they are just boring to play.

Of course there's Apollo 13 pin from Sega. 13 ball multi-ball is very interesting the first time it happens to you. :)

The Data East hating is bogus. They put out some stinkers, sure, but they put out quite a few good games. I own Jurassic Park and I think it's fantastic. Other good to great DE games:

- The Simpsons
- Guns 'N Roses
- Back to the Future
- Laser War (first 2.1 stereo game)
- Lethal Weapon 3
- Tales From the Crypt
- Tommy
- WWF Royal Rumble

Checkpoint is also a Data East game that was the first DMD game. So yeah, Data East did a lot for the industry.
