Wasn't sure where this one should have went... If it doesn't belong here, just move it where it needs to be.

I recently picked up a photobooth... I basically just didn't want to leave the auction emptyhanded and I like oddball stuff... so... $45 photobooth. It's a Q-Zap photo sticker booth. She works fine, but the camera seems to have a little too much... something colorwise ... I can't tell what it is though.

I've used the buttons on the back of the camera to try to adjust the white balance and all that jazz, but there are no color options in the menu. Are there adjustments on the camera itself to help with colors? I haven't taking the thing apart because it works and I don't want to risk anything if there's nothing there to get to.

The pictures just come out too greenish I think it is...

Any ideas?

greenish you say? I've been out of production for a few years now, but certain lighting types can cause weird white balance in cameras. in the very least though I think you'd have either a "warm" picture (reddish) or a "cool" picture (bluish). I think some fluorescent lighting types can cause greenish however. :)

your best bet is to pull up a model number off the camera and research white balancing via google or MAYBE if you're lucky, the manufacturer's site.

The problem is my eyes are especially great with colors when there are a bunch of them. I think it looks a little greenish? A friend of mine said reddish... ...

The lights that are on it are fluorescents... but I haven't checked their kelvin rating. I guess I should probably do that and check back. You would think the white balance in the camera would adjust for that though as it's set on automatic.

As far as the camera... everything on it is in Japanese, but I'll see what I can find on it and what I can find on Google.

Thanks.

that's strange. if anything, I would think the tone would go the opposite way with fluorescents (the greenish/blue tone, now that I think of it). or maybe I have it backwards, like I said, I haven't mucked with this stuff since 2006 back in college.

are there any buttons on the camera at all? or adjustments in the software (?)

Nothing in the software for the machine. The camera just has focus options and white balance options (which is set for auto because that seemed to be the one that looked right(er). Maybe the flash is throwing everything out of wack. I should probably double check the white balance WITH flash instead of just fluorescents.

Maybe the printer needs to be calibrated. I assume it uses dye sublimation printing, and the printers do go off-calibration. When I worked in the photo lab we had to calibrate our kiosk printers regularly to make sure the color stayed "correct." How this would be done on a photo booth, I have no idea :/

The "non-photo" colors are dead on (foreground and background graphics). It's just the actual picture that's taken is too... something. I guess the lights they use for the flash could have color shifted (happens with reef lights all the time).
