Finally got a chance to look at that Phoenix I talked about a few weeks back... I'm guessing it's the flyback that's broken on it, but one thing's got me a little puzzled.

First of all, the game is in A+ condition, inside-and-out. A little dirty, but cosmetically, this game rocks. It looked like it was only on location up until '82, judging by the tax stickers.

On the Flyback itself, around the "C-shaped" metal piece, inside the groove cut on the edge, is a copper wire that looks like it's all but corroded away. The game plays blind, but here's the funny thing: You can crank up the picture POT in the back, and the monitor glows white. At the very bottom of the screen, it almost looked like there was part of the score flickering in white (only one or two pixels away from the edge, however).

If the flyback is the problem, though... wouldn't there be *no* picture? Or is this still possible?

The multimeter read + & - 5.1V on the 5V, but went all the way up to 15V on the 12+ (with everything hooked up, measured at the PS itself). Would too much current cause this instead?

BTW: The game played blind just fine, but I'll admit... I suck at it when I can't see the ship. ;-)

Thanks in advance!
