A friend told me about this the other day, and asked me to share with my "arcade buddies"...

Interesting!

Why does it feel like "AZ's only legit barcade" is a flip of the bird to arcades like mine? It's true, I'm not serving alcohol, but that's mainly because in nerd circles the drinks of choice are all caffeine bombs. :)

Dammit! I just committed to helping out with a school function that same night!
Man, the school is gonna be disappointed. That really sucks for them. :(

Yeah, no kidding, huh?

a barcade is also opening.

Whomever is opening this better be careful - don't the owners of the original "Barcade" (in NY or wherever) go after people who use that term?

Best of luck though. It's great to see these types of businesses popping up everywhere.

Very interesting.

Going to have to hit that up.

A bit scared to see what cabs have been sacrificed in the name of art.

Barcade...now that's cool...if done with taste.

Only if they're stupid. I can't see any judge siding with them for "owning" the term barcade... It's a natural combination of the two things offered.

But, they might be stupid.

Wow, what are the odds. I'm going to be in Phoenix that weekend. I will have to take a gander and play some games!

Yeah, lets get wife approval and try to carpool.

There is no such thing as a legit "barcade".

On my way there tight now... Hope to see you guys there.

Take some pics and post a review.

Let us all know which unrestored cab makes you cry the most. :)

Bonus points for finding out how much they tried to sell the art for.

Play the "pimped-out" bling-bling Neo-geo for me.

It was really cool. I took some pics, went there right at 5pm before heading off to the store. (Scheduling, what can you do). They were still working on the electricity so I didn't play, but some of those cabinets looked outstanding.

I want that gold plated MVS, seriously.

Pics later when I get home, can't post them in the browser from my phone

Some pics from the Artcade show

This is that MVS... I absolutely love it. And since I just sold our MVS (can't say no to a buyer who tells me the right number) I am in the market for one again. I've made inquiries but haven't heard anything definitive yet.

This is actually NOT the Golfland $100 Gyruss. :) Or so said the show organizer who I got to chat with for a bit. These were some of the older classics on display and I thought had some real standout paint jobs on them.

I know this is "only" an X-Men, not exactly a timeless classic, and the artwork is "only" comic-style, but I really like this as a potential way to beautify my KI/MK-converted Marvel vs Capcom 2. Everything about my MVC2 is fantastic except the cab graphics, of which there aren't any. So there might be a commission out there, or something, if we can make the right arrangement.

Lots of other great games but these were the ones that impressed me enough to whip out the ol' camera in the short time I had. A very clean Stargate, an impressive APB, and a great 1943 also stood out. I don't mean to diminish the work of the other artists by not mentioning other games... virtually all of them looked really amazing. I just don't remember much about that evening, since DSG had tournaments running late into the wee hours for the new Magic: the Gathering release, so I'm pretty wiped out now.

Anyway hope you guys enjoy the pics

I took a bunch of pics, but haven't even had the chance to view them yet...

Soon.
