Phoenix marquee

Used to be a bunch of NOS available, but it's been years ago. I bought one to put in a game, which I no longer have. I don't guess that helps much.

Have these been reproduced? If so, who's got the best ones?

There was a run of screened repros done many years ago. I got lucky and found one last year. Quality is just OK (but I admit I'm very picky). Probably tough to find one now. My quest to find a decent original has been very disappointing....

maybe that's what I had

I got one from Mike of Mike's Arcade about 12 yrs ago. It may be the same run that Matt is talking about, but I think it looks pretty good on my Phoenix. I am not that picky, and it is certainly better than what the machine came with when I got it.

Yeah, that's the same run. Mike was selling them. I don't know who actually made them. They're not bad... but they could have been much better.

Yeah, I got one there a few years ago, it wasn't bad but it had a minor scratch. Way better the the touched up crap one I had.

yes it would be nice if someone produce a Nice glass Phoniex marquee but in the mean time we just hobble along with the peeling ones we got and the reproductions.

Who would we have to talk to to get a reproduction started? like who's permission do you need? Centuri?

most people who do repros just do them without permission and assume/hope that the runs are small enough to go under the radar which in most cases they are. The people to talk to are those who make repros and not the companies that made the games. In most cases these companies no longer exist anyway.

Screened would be awesome but recently I worked with Scott at GOG to correct the missing/incorrect colors in the joymonkey based artwork. Supposedly his printing process does a good job with blacks not letting light through which is important for a marquee like this that has a lot of black, so between the blacks and the fixed colors this should be a big improvement over the one Rich printed for me which was basically an unaltered joymonkey print. I didn't take the time to scrutinize every last detail though since it's just an inkjet print. Once I get it I plan to post about it, so watch for that coming soon if you're interested.

That is good news, I'm trying to hunt down a decent Phoenix Maquee for quite some time now. Also contacted mike's arcade, but obviously he doesn't have them anymore. He did tell me that his repro showed the little trademark line in pretty good quality.

The ones now for sle by others are not worthy to be on my cab. :)
