Phoenix Arcades from BITD

I had no idea that yesterday was National Arcade Day... :oops2:

I basically lived at Starship Fantasy in Phoenix. (Not Glendale, as the article claimed) Ahhhh, the good ol' days.

Cool article.

I spent a lot of time at Metro Midway and Golf N' Stuff/Castles N' Coasters (I still hit that one up a few times a year). The article has a cool photo of the ride/game that was in the middle of Metro Midway. It was like the rocket ride at Disneyland, except each ship had a screen IIRC and you'd navigate your ship up and down to shoot down other riders. If you got hit, your ship would shake and you'd sink back down to the bottom.

The other arcades I frequented as a kid were Pistol Pete's Pizza at 43rd and Dunlap/Olive, Peter Piper Pizza at 51st Ave and Olive, and Goldmine at Valley West Mall.
