I know there is a lot of mention in various places about the arcade sd and roms but I have some questions that I can't seem to locate any posts about or a specific page.

1. Can other game roms like those from Mame sites be used on arcade sd?
I know where the standard site is but to add beyond that is there any options and some good links to research?
2. Light gun games? The support is listed but there is never any mention of it after that. I believe I would be looking for a happ gun and my cabinet is CRT but not sure if I can get Mame versions or find the roms for like duck hunt or hogans alley etc.

Does anyone have the expierence with this that might have some links to check into?

Thanks

No other ROMs/games are supported. The only way new games can be added is through a software update.

The game list you see is the game list you get. Everyone here is hoping they will one day do some more updates but no one is holding their breath since it's been a couple years since the last one. I have one and I love it, it really plays so much better than a 60-1. Yes it's more expensive but I have never regretted buying it. As I recall it has no gun games...I never noticed it on mine.

It's a bummer because that would give it that much more of an edge over the 60 and others by doing something that they cannot. I did get an answer from phenoix saying this to be true also.

The main edge it has is the emulations generally blow on a 60-1.

Some people dont care and its "close enough" but if you know the original games well its a bigger deal.

Some of the emulations aren't so hot on the sd either but where it beats 60-1 is the control reaponse and friendly menu.

kinda interesting that it's the Phoenix ArcadeSD, waiting for the rebirth part.

I know this is a question that's been answered elsewhere, but since I'm here and we're on the subject...

Are the ROMs on the ArcadeSD licensed? I've heard arguments both ways, and I think the consensus is that the cheap 60-in-1s are not licensed.

nope. i think the SD part is the way they get around that. just selling a piece of hardware with no rom property on it.

You'd have to get into a professional product like the NAMCO anniversary PCBs if you want "licensed" in the legal sense.

I see. I had always seen the retort to "ArcadeSD is so much more expensive" as "but the ROMs are licensed!" Apparently not. Ok. Good to know.

vertical mode

i have the arcade sd and running it in vertical mode
I have a 19"4:3 lcd. (don't blast me)
I have tons of games that have about 3 fingers width at the bottom of the screen(game can use more monitor but it doesn't
any thoughts?
I have a joystick, 3 fire/shield buttons, and a 2.25" trackball.
I mainly play donkey kong and gaplus, which use 4 and * way joysticks. What is everybody's favorite for both? I am thinking about trying the Dominux8 with a restrictor but not too sure!
Not too sure which restrictor also!

There may be an adjustment for the size somewhere in the menu of the LCD.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it may be.

I have a pair of Magstick plus joysticks with a balltop handle, I love them. Short throw but can be switched from 4 to 8 way without opening the control panel (from the top).

They play great I either 4 and 8 way.
