Permission to Price Police, Sir!

there seems to be a lot of threads recently with people bitching about prices (yes, i'm one of the bitchers) ... but crazy price jumps are happening here as well

can't say i'm super surprised

It's normal, happens in EVERY hobby when there are more and more collectors and less supply. Standard collector economics.

My advice, is simply to get used to it or figure out a way to work around it.

Price poliicing in a free market is silly, and there is no point in doing it.

to be fair to OP, i don't believe actual price policing was going on

it was more of a "WTF ARE YOU SERIOUS" kinda reaction (one which i'm 100% in agreement with) :)

I remember selling a perfectly working Lifeforce PCB for $150 (along with a Nemesis for $200). That was probably 10 years ago.... Seemed like too much for it back then. Don't miss it.

it's a bootleg and untested.

Do you ever get the feeling that sometimes a seller will say "untested" while fully knowing that a game doesn't work just because they know that they will get more money from people willing to gamble on the possibility that it could be working?

oh golly gee never

untested = unworking (for all intents and purposes)

Do you ever get the feeling that sometimes a seller will say "untested" while fully knowing that a game doesn't work just because they know that they will get more money from people willing to gamble on the possibility that it could be working?

Yeah, that's standard practice unfortunately.
