People who deliver door flyers = thieves and arcade stuff

So I ordered a Fluke HV probe from arcadeCUP and a B&K IsoPack. Got the IsoPack and UPS showed both packages delivered. No Fluke HV probe. Talked with my postman (he knows me since he delivers lots of packages to me). I mentioned the "heavy package" - IsoPack and he remembered that. I asked about a second, smaller package and he said he delivered it the following day to my door step. Turns out there was a flyer stuck in the door that same day and no package. Coincidence? I think not. This is the second time I have had this happen to a package.

I would really like to be able to catch them since taking a USPS package is a federal crime.

Time for some cameras and maybe some 'bait'.

I detest thieves so much...no matter what their race/nationality. They are among the lowest of the low scum that walks the Earth.

Guess I may call my local LE and report this just because. The LE does go through the neighborhood quite a bit and if they saw someone delivering flyers and carrying a package, they might be interested in stopping them. :)

Bastards...If I caught them in the act I could shoot them.

And the HV probe will be of no use to them. Alien technology.

EDIT: Ok, so not all flyer delivery people are thieves but it sure is easy and tempting for them to turn that way.

EDIT EDIT: Just making a point in this thread about how the flyer distributors I see are likely not here legally.

You gotta have a secure place for the mailman/UPS to put your packages; there's just too many dishonest people out there. Or have the mailman hold your packages at the P.O.

Normally they go in one of two large locked boxes at the mailbox stop. Guess they were full this time, though.

How have you or others made a secure drop for packages outside? I was considering my options on this as well.

I used to be a mailman years back and have dropped off packages thru dogholes and inside porches(and then locked the door behind me, etc.) I haven't built a dropbox here for me, I pick up my mail at the P.O. in town every day. As far as UPS goes, they drop it inside my porch, but there's no need for much worry around here as I live in a little hillbilly town with a population of less than 450 people. Not much crime here. If you know something valuable is coming I would just have them hold it at the P.O. no matter what. Its just not worth risking it getting ripped off of your steps/porch.

I agree thats probably what happened , and they're trying to sell your Fluke HV probe at the Flea Market for $10 .

I've personally witnessed these flyer guys do exactly that - steal boxes from doorstep. They once took off with a box full of Motorola manuals....I saw them running with it, too. LOL Wasn't worth anything to me, so I didn't get worked up over it.

Anyhow, I decided to bait them later on with a box full of dog poop. They took the bait - stole my box o' poop like clockwork! I wish I could have seen the look on their faces when they opened up that box. HAHA

Sounds like you need to build a lock box big enough that your packages can fit in. Though this will only work for USPS, UPS you are going to be SOL.

I have a local mailbox place that I get all of my packages delivered to. They close at 5:00 for some reason, so I can't get my packages until the weekend sometimes, but it's nice to aways have someone sign for my packages and to know they're secure.

Yep, I'm told that in the Minneapolis / St. Paul metro area, there are groups of people who drive around in vans. They carry big canvas bags and stick fliers on people's front doors.

But, what they actually do is look for (and follow) UPS and FedEx trucks. They'll make note of where they see packages being left unattended at people's doors. Then they come back a little later, pretend to stick a flier on the door, pop the package into the big bag and take it back to their van.

I get everything possible delivered to my workplace. The only exception being those places that refuse to ship to anything other than my credit card billing address.

I had a missing package a couple years back and UPS showed it marked "delivered". A couple of days later I caught the neighbor kid putting it on our porch, his eyes got big and he said he was "delivering" it for us, BS.

Their house is for sale, I can't wait till they're gone!

Shoot the bastards

For those who feel like they have to use this thread for their arizona law/illegal aliens viewpoints, there is a nice big thread about it in the Political section. Stop in and find out how many of your fellow KLOVers are actually against a law for this....

I called the local Sheriff's office and made a report and got a call back. The officers do make their presence known in the neighborhood. I am happy to see them driving through the neighborhood. He indicated they would be watching for people soliciting/putting out flyers.

I feel better FWIW.

I still may have to put out some 'bait' and get it on video. That would be fun. :)

Hmmm, I never thought about those guys. Someone stole a Happ bezel, replacement trackball (just the ball), and some vinyl from my doorstep once.
I live in a nice, low traffic neighborhood so I doubt it was someone who lives here.

I set up a wireless camera that points towards my door - it's very obvious if you're at my front door, but it can't be seen from the street. I can view the camera from the internet and it starts recording when it detects motion. Haven't had a problem since, and the camera's been up for over a year.

What was the flyer advertising? Go to the place and ask who was delivering their flyer. It may not even be them, anyone could have dropped by and took it but if it was them they will know you are wise to them or maybe they saw the package and saw who took it. You never know.

I was about 14 and one time the ups guy asked if I could take the package for my neighbors across the street and said yes. I gave it to them as soon as I seen them later that night. I was a little shit back then but my one rule was to never fuck around in my own neighborhood so I could never be blamed for anything.

Unfortunately, I had someone picking up my mail and they tossed the flyer. I thought about doing that the last time something went missing and there was a flyer on my door.

So now we can't mention anything relating to 'politics' in our posts if it is not in the political forum? :)

I felt it was rather relevant based on the folks I see distributing flyers in my neighborhood.

That bites but whatever.
