Hi guy's I have a Question about a Pentranic 1425 25" STD/MED res monitor chassis.

Came in a Cruisin USA with a blown fuse. I changed out the Hot and tested all the larger caps in the HV area, changed the two caps on the power supply board and ordered a new FET but it wasn't the same. style the old one was all concealed and the new one was a metal backed style. SO long story short I changed all that and after the FET(power Reg Transistor) it didn't blow the fuse right away. it took about 12 seconds then smoked the FET and then the fuse.

Any suggestions on these chassis. I cant find much info. Do the flybacks go on these fairly commomly. Or could all my issues be in the FET and power area.

Call him instead. He'll pick up the phone.

BTW, how exactly did you identify the Pentranic chassis that you have?

I have one and I'm not seeing any model numbers on it. It's on a 25" monitor, standard res I believe.

Not to sound like a dick but it had a tag on the inside metal frame that said the model and serial numbers. Just like the wells 7000 series that always fall off. the 1425 is the switchable one that'll have two sets of molex pins on the flyback framing. Were you can switch between standard and medium resolution. I'll try calling thanks.

No numbers on the metal frame for me, although it does say "adjusted for use in the USA".

There's numbers on the tube as well as the Pentranic name but nothing labeled as a chassis number and they look like tube numbers to me.

I've not yet pulled the chassis out but got a pretty good look at it and saw copyright notices and so forth but nothing resembling a serial number. At some point I'll have to pull it out and see if there's anything on the bottom of the board or mounted under it (although that would be pretty weird).

BTW, Rick Neiman is a nice guy; he'll help you out if he can.

I have one of these chassis, and it was fitted to a 29" tube (27" diagonal) anyway it had crazy pincushioning, friend thats a good tech, had another cabinet there that had a 25" with same chassis, he swapped it out and on the 25" its gorgeous, no issues with pincushion etc, so he was thinking the chassis isnt designed for a 29" so im left with a brand new chassis (as I have another chassis thats a std res only, both came in a deal, both bought new) anyway question is what other tubes could I use to take advantage of this chassis or am I out of luck?

UPDATE : the std res only chassis works great with the 29" tube, whereas the dual res chassis wont work with 29" but great with a 25" tube, so ive now got a nice 29" std res flat screen, just need to find a use for the dual res chassis

So I get so many e-mails and phone calls. try my best to answer them all. When AKA's are used I am never sure whether I have received the e-mail or post.
I do not check PM's as it is just too many things to keep up with. Just wanted to check, as I was on vacation last month and will be gone again on the 20th of this month.
Did you manage to get a hold of me and can I be of more help. E-mail me [email protected]

Rick

It looks like Nieman Displays is gone. Or at least they don't have a website anymore, which probably means the same thing.

Maybe one of the monitor repair people can help with that monitor?

Looks like Arcadecup can, but I personally would look around to see what your repair options are.
