Pentranic 1125 CGA 26" no video and chirp noise

I'm very new to all this and bought an MVS cabinet off of someone on craigslist. Everything was fine until I wondered why the marquee didn't light up. SO, I took off the screws and no bulbs. I put in two home light bulbs and they worked fine.

The problem though, the monitor went out. Even after taking out the bulbs I get no video at all. What I do get in it's place is a frequent chirping/clicking noise going about every half second perfectly consistent.

SO, I definately did the dumbest thing I could've done and just put in bulbs without researching the right bulbs. What I'm wondering now, just how bad of a problem do I have on my hands and suggestions for repairing it? As I'm very new any help in the right direction would be a great help.

First picture is my cabinet, second is the manual it came with, third is NOT my actual board but a picture of a similiar one.

Big thanks to anyone with the patience to help me out.

Hey thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea what you just said there as I'm so new at this.

I'm thinking of just buying a new chassis (there's one on ebay) and replacing that as it'll be the easiest thing to do.

The problem though is someone also suggested it might be the power supply as I may have screwed it up when I replaced the marquee lights and now it's not providing the monitor with the power needed (hence the chirping noise).

Do you think this could be a possiblity as well? This is though everything else works fine I can hear the game going I just can't see it.

Unless something really strange occured when you changed out the bulbs I can't see that affecting the power to the monitor. The chirping noise is the monitor powersupply trying to start up. If are not comfortable replacing electronic components then a chassis swap is your only option, other than a new monitor. Good luck!

Hey thanks man,

At least I got the cab cheap, so maybe I should at least try replacing components and even if I screw up the worst thing that happens is I'm back to where I started right?

Actually the worst thing is if I don't probably remove the charge from something first.

Can I check all the caps using a multimeter? And for buying a multimeter I notice many cheaper ones on ebay shipping from Asia, are these ok or just junk?

I did take electronics in high school so I have experience with soldering at least heh.

You get what you pay for with the meter thing. Most cheap meters will not test caps. That requires a different type of meter. You are going to need a good meter if you plan on working on these games.
