Penny Arcadia - Upcoming Event - Portland - May 6

In addition to the individual tours we give here in Pasadena, there is another upcoming chance to see about 30 of our earliest (hundred year old) arcade games in Portland, Oregon on May 6 (next Thursday). Many of the machines shown will be the only one known in the world. For several more of the machines, less than 10 of each exist and the rest are typically hiding deep in the collections of some fairly quite collectors.

When: Thursday, May 6, 6-8 p.m. (was 7-10 p.m.) [For people that can't make it, we can be open by appointment any time between 10 am and 10 pm on Thursday if you want to come by and take a peak.]

Where: Portland, Oregon - Instructions and details will be given to approved guests.

Who: Free, but all guests need to be pre-screened. Look at our 'Visit Us' page for general guidelines http://www.arcade-museum.com/visit-us.php. Depending on demand, we may have to limit the number of visitors.

In short, it's open to active forum members and VAPS members who signed up before Jan 1 , 2009. Exceptions (mostly people who signed up later) may be available as space is available and we are able to screen them.

Interested? Send a PM to 'PennyArcadiaPo'. Also, please log onto www.arcade-museum.com and then 'edit your settings' to make sure your correct name, address, and phone are on file. We may use any method to reach you, and may not try multiple methods.

This is extremely tempting... Anyone from the Seattle area planning to attend? I'd love to go if I can carpool and clear it with The Boss.

I'm flying up to Portland. It's a good opportunity for Portland area members to meet up, and most have never met me and I've not met most of them.

Food / drink will be provided too..

If you need hotel accomodations my wife's a DOS for Hilton. PM if you need some help and we'll hook you up.

you guys could consult with me first to find a day i'm not working, but no...

i'm sorry i'll miss it, it sounds very cool.

There will almost assuredly be another opportunity a few months down the road. For a variety of reasons there was not a lot of flexibility or notice on this one. Next time there likely will be.

When are you going to send us confirmation and details like the location? It's getting kinda last minute. :)

Everyone who wanted to go should have an address and phone number now.

We moved the event up to 6-8 pm tomorrow, Thursday (instead of 7-10 pm), though we are available later if any one wants to come by after 8 (we just need to know). Also, if anyone can't make it in the evening and wants to come by and see the collection earlier, it can be viewed by appointment any time from 10 a.m. on.

Attached are some photos of some of the machines on display.

It was amazing seeing all of that history in one room. Thanks for allowing us to take a look at the collection taking the time to explain a lot of the history behind it. Let me know your email and I can send the pics I took. Thanks again.

Fred

Yep. The machines were very cool and it was very nice of you to have us over to see them. It was also great meeting you!

The event was a lot of fun, and I always enjoy meeting people that find all of this interesting. Thank you to everyone that showed up and supported Penny Arcadia, the IAM, and KLOV
