Went to the arcade at Spring Lake Beach in Burrillville, RI. It has been a working arcade since around 1929 with a fair amount of machines that have been there that whole time. What a lost American treasure off the beaten path this place is. On a quiet little lake you have to go through a small maze of side roads to get to. These machines were set for a penny, nickel, dime or quarter. So cool playing a game for a nickel or dime in the real world. Bells and gongs galore. Didn't take pictures of any vids, they didn't have many anyway, but if you're interested in some VINTAGE stuff, enjoy the pics.

3 old shooting galleries. First set for a nickel, other 2 a dime

Manakin baseball, basketball and bowling. The bowling one was modern, but a pretty faithful repro.

I think this is some kind of Strength Tester, didn't work. You can see an old rotary merchandiser behind it

I thought the changer was great. There was a 5 penny for a nickel one too.

This was pretty cool, you guide a bearing along the track. The whole table tilts with the wheel and pedals.

Cool baseball hitting game. You hit mini ping pong balls.

Another digger. The kids were all over this.

This was cool too. Kind of a slot car you had to move the steering wheel in the right direction to keep it moving.

Hope you liked the pics. Some of these machines were like fine antique furniture. Ingenious mechanics for the day. Great vintage sounds all around you. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're ever in the area.

Thank you for posting all those pics. Those machines are awesome! I can't believe there's a place out there with games that old still in operation. Shocking to say the least; I would love to go there and play...

Great pics thanks for posting! I love how with all that great old stuff there is a MM pin, I want that pin bad but can't justify shelling out 5000.00 for it! Thanks again for the pics.

That is just plain cool. No doubt about it.

And I too am amazed that a lot of those are still in working order. Heck of a Tech guy that is for sure.

That is all kinds of awesome! If I had a place like that local, I would be there all the time. I'd probably try to get in with the owner to watch/help fix the machines. The fact that the machines work means that somewhere in there has to be an old-timer just brimming with a wealth of knowledge just begging to be passed on to someone.

Wow that's a cool place! Thanks for posting those. I remember watching an F-114 new, being set up on location at the Gold Mine in the Savannah Mall. Damn I'm old. :p

With me being such a sports fan i think it would be cool to have a row of the baseball, basketball, hockey and bowling in my house. Now that would be the shit right there.

I was thinking the same thing. All in all for what they were, the machines worked good. Even the EM pins played pretty strong and fast (for an EM). I'm sure whoever the tech is, he has his hands full. Just having those old machines running every day, and we all know how gentile kids are. It was kind of rainey the day I went, but the place was still pretty busy. Should have seen all the kids with their zip lock bags of change, pretty funny. It was cool having 7 cents in your pocket and still having a choice of things to play. The place is about an hour and a half from me, I'll definately be visiting again. Glad everyone liked the pics. Places like this are where it all started! :mariosmile2:
