What's with the cheap X-Men's lately? I know the sound fix is widely known now, but it doesn't always work once the sound is gone and there's still a lot of people that want the board.

I didn't even know Golden Axe's had suicide batteries. I come across Golden Axe boards all the time and never seen a dead one.

Let me know how to check, and I can let you. Or will pictures help?

Most Sega 16 boards have suicide batteries unfortunately. There usually is a big black box on the board that holds the battery. To rez them you need to swap it with standard 68000 and a few ROMs depending on the game. I have a Wrestle War board that doesn't even have one! Silly SEGA!!

Pics always help ;)

OK, so here are the pics of the Golden Axe boards. The bottom boards seem the same (except for a missing ic on one???). The top boards seem completely different.

Far as I can tell they both play fine though.

Well uploading picture failed so here they are.

If one is worth more than the other (if my pricing is off) please let me know.

i could be wrong but the first golden axe has the suicide 68000, the 1094 chip, the second one may have already been fixed as the 68000 looks regular but i cant really see the z80 chip from the label paper, if any of that info helps anyone :)

The GA in board pic#1 looks like my GA board. So, it ought to have a suicide battery inside that big black box on top of the CPU.

Good thing is that the suicide battery inside can be changed or you can get it removed. I had my battery changed. And my board works great.

It is a z80 under that paper.

So one is not fixed and one is. Both are working fine. Should my pricing change? Should the non fixed one be cheaper?

Thanks.

Just like CAPCOM games with and without a battery: It's essentially the same game.

The battery makes the game technically original and a ticking time bomb. And, the suicide fix makes the game technically a bootleg and immortal. There are buyers out there for both types of boards.

IMHO, raise a price if you want to sell something slower. And, lower a price if you want to sell something faster. ;)

I'm planning on having mainman fix an original ALTERED BEAST board sometime soon.

Sega 16 are really easy to fix; a bare 68000 fetch about $10 on ebay and two of your eproms need to be erased an reprogrammed with images than can easily be found on the net.(pm me if you need help)

Alternatively you can order a de-suicide kit from http://www.segaresurrection.com/#Which
you'll get a CPU + eproms for $40. Just plug an play.
