So, bought a Galaxian after it sat in a shipping container a few years...have a little bit of rust on the chip legs, after close examination, I noticed one of the chips had a leg that was bent and not in its proper hole, so after carefully removing it, I, very very gently started un-bending the leg so I could re-seat it, and it snapped. There is a bit of rust on certain chips on this board. Is there a way to repair the damage, or am I best suited to just abandon hope and search for a new board? Surely this problem has arisen before..

I've repaired many "rusty" chips before... Just grab a spare or dead chip, bend the leg off at the top and solder to the remains of the orginal leg. (provided its not rusted all the way to the chip). That being said, you may want to closely inspect the sockets too. I typically replace a socket that I've pulled a rusty chip from.

Better yet, use a capacitor leg from an installed cap - once you do a few kits you're bound to have some around (if you keep them). Make sure to use a fibreglass pencil to clean the chip leg nub of corrosion or the solder will have trouble sticking.
