PCB identification please, Defense Command bootleg love baby.....

Boards look nice, and has a high score save battery compartment, but no identification marks. If its a boot, sure is a nice boot, but still have NO idea what this one is:

Looks like you are correct. I am missing one chip however, Whats your guess.

Uploaded the pics to VAPS.

I guess there is no way to find the pinouts on this sucker eh?

I'm going to take a stab at the missing chip and say it is the (edit: 6802). The crystal next to it is most likely the 3.58MHz crystal for the sound. Do you see any other ( EDIT) 6802 (or 6808) chips on the top board?

If they were trying to copy the functions of the ROM, Interface and sound onto one board, it would stand to reason that they needed 3 6821's and a (EDIT)6802 (or 6808) to do it. Of course, they could have completely re-engineered the whole thing, but that would take more time. Haven't really looked into the Defender clones. Never had any of the PCBs.

EDIT: mixed up the 6802 & 6810 chips. Changed it to prevent future confusion.

There is one 6810 right above the missing chip, and the crystal is 3.12mhz. No other three large chips on the top are 6821's.

So it must be as you say a 6808. Coolios.

?
The original boards had a 6821 PIA for each of the sound, rom and interface board

the 6802 was for the sound board although 6808 could be used. So you would have either a 6808 or a 6802, and then 3x 6821's

EDIT Sorry, I meant 6802. The 6810 is a ram chip. Got mixed up. Had to look at a drawing I stuffed in a drawer here.

Sorry, I made a mistake earlier. But I would lean to the 6802. There was a mod to use a 6808 and not need the 6810 ram, but since they put it there ... I'm betting a 6802 is what you need.

I have a Defense Command board somewhere.... I made an adapter for it, many years ago. Not sure if it's the same pinout as yours, but I can dig it out and check if you get stuck trying to figure it out.
I have some Defense Command artwork too... marquee and CPO at least.

That would rock if you can check the pinout for me. Might as well confirm the type of chip I am missing as well :)
