Finally found a Tron, But I have to drive 8 hours away to pick it up. Just wanted to make sure i wasn't paying too much. Guy wants 900.00 Its in decent shape, normal wear and tear as the guy said over the phone, real nice too.

Kinda new to buying stuff, and was hoping for your input.

here's a pic

say's theres a light humming noise, but he thinks its from the ballast inside.

I have been looking all over Vegas for one, and I can not find one, been about a month now. Should I be more patient? Ask for a lower price? Have it shipped and if so who's good?

Thinking this would go perfect next to Star Wars.

I think it's on the high side. I paid $200 for mine fully working, it does need a new cp overlay and a couple shroud plastic pieces have small cracks but I did get a good deal on it. I would pay $500 tops for a nice condition working one, but then again Tron was not at the top of my want list.

HAHAhahahahah-

You dumb asses-
That's a good looking Tron!

I wouldn't pay $900, but I'VE already GOT one!

There's no way in hell you'd get that for $200 and it looks too good for anybody to sell it for a mere $500!

If it's your grail, go for it! An eight hour trip is pretty strong. You had better make sure it's the condition you want for that kind of investment.

While you're at it, see if you can get him down to $700- maybe throw out $750 as your 'BEST OFFER'. You never know. Don't play too hard though- you might miss out altogether.

It's your cash, your game, your decision. It'll always have some resale value, so anything beyond what you think you can fetch for it, consider that the lease price while you own it.

Just go get it before somebody snatches it out from under you.

It's a high dollar game (and this one does look decent except below the coin door), but $900 and a 16 hour round trip is pretty steep, especially with the market today. I'd keep looking if I were you.

Yeah...you've gotta figure out what's going on under that coin door. If that's all cut out, then that needs to be repaired...if you want to make it look original. From that one pic, it doesn't seem like you have a lot of water damage...which is a plus. It also depends on how picky you are. The sideart looks pretty good...but for me, pretty good wasn't good enough. I completely rehabbed my tron and it ran me about $1k. From what I see...looks like a solid machine. The prices on these babies are going up. You might find one for less...or not. I think the days of finding these for under $500 are long gone unless you get it from another KLOVer trying to help you out, or if it's a piece of crap. For what it's worth...I paid $650 +$200 delivery for a piece of crap 10x worse than yours....but I REALLY wanted a Tron and it was somewhat local. It all depends on your budget. $1k to one person can be like $100 to another. If you really want it, and can afford it...go for it. Oh, and the hum may just be a switcher adapter in place of the power supply...or just a ballast. And shipping will likely run you at least $300. Good luck!

Here's my 2 cents worth- wait!

I've been collecting for almost 20 years (if you count jukes too), and if you're patient, just about every game will come around at the right price eventually. I don't mean to suggest you're going to wait for that $75 dollar dedicated Major Havoc, but within reason, every top shelf classic will eventually be for sale at a better price if you wait.

No way I'd pay $900 for a Tron with a few cosmetic issues; not if it was right across the street, much less hours away. Be patient, the right deal will come along and then you won't have any remorse over what you spent.

There will be those rare occasions with a really hard to find title, or a exceptional example of a popular title, and you'll have to pay up to get it. That's when you reach into the pile of money you saved from passing on $900 Trons.

$900 is way too much, even for your grail. You can find a better deal than this.I wouldn't go over $300 for it personally since I'm not a huge Tron fan,but even if I was a fanatic I couldn't see going more than $500.

Thanks for your input... I think I try and ask him for 600, and excuse the other 300 for shipping, or Driving out to get it.

It is One of my favorite games of all time. But if it sails, I can wait another 6 months or so.

I figure its gonna cost me another 300 just to fix it to a good condition.

Thanks again for your input.

I second that. And I really want one...

Wow, 16 hour round trip is REAL DEDICATION.. but I'd want it to be a better deal than that to do it. I did a 10 hour round trip to Miami to pick up an MK2 machine a few weekends ago, but that was a mint machine for an absolutely smoking deal.

Take into account, also, that in my experiences there are surprises a lot of the times on the games when I go to see them, IE some problem the guy didn't mention, a hack job he didn't mention, or whatever, and that's a long way to go to get hosed like that. If it was a smoking deal (Like with my MK), at least you'd have a nice cab you could work with and the money to put into it since you got it so cheap.

Good luck!

i got my tron cheap, a couple hundred iirc. Looked bad, but was working, well, it wasn't working exactly, but the parts were there to make it work without having to buy anything else.
Here's the thing with Tron - even if it looks ok, to really make one look nice, the new plexis and art are a 500 buck package.
So, if you get a fully working beater for a couple hundred, its gonna be an 800 buck game by the time you get done restoring it, plus your time and effort. A super nice restored Tron doesn't go much more than he wants for that one.
If it needs art or plexis or both to make you happy, i'd not pay more than 300 personally. But, then again, i've already got one, too. So, i guess it boils down to how much you'd need to put into to get into the condition you want versus what one already restored would cost.

that one looks pretty nice, but I tend to agree it's a $450-$650 game.

I got mine from vegas for $400. working in pretty nice shape. Not as nice as that one seems to be from the one pic.

$900 is too high for a Tron IMHO. I want one too and I have people screw me over and sell it out from under me at $400. If it is $900, it should be flawless, no issues.

$900 and the time/cost of the drive...... no way.

Even a small picture like that one and several things can be picked out on it.
Control panel overlay, chunked up t-molding, artwork over the blacklight in front of the control panel, artwork in general chewed up in several places, not to mention whatever is going on below the coin door. (almost looks like a coin box access hole or something)
And that's not to mention what you may be able see when you actually get there.
Or the conditions of the insides.
No way......

First thing I would do is ask for SEVERAL good/closer pictures from all angles and the inside before EVER driving that far just to find out then. It's the least they could do for you if you are even THINKING of spending $900 and driving that far.

Keep in mind one thing, guys- when they start pushing out that TRON trailer with all of the summer movies (very very soon), every seller who has one of these is going to think theirs is worth a bajillion dollars..

So I say, if it's a true grail of yours, you might just want to try the 700-750 counter offer another person mentioned, and if the seller declines, buy it at the current asking price. You'll be pissed if it's a grail of yours and then suddenly everyone in your area wants $2K for one in the same shape!
