I am among the newest initiates to paypal. I had resisted using paypal for many years before finally folding when I thought I would be selling items on ebay. I had sold a couple items through vaps and had to pay the jokers 3% of my earnings for the privelage of taking a credit card. Tonight, I went to make a payment using the credit card I signed up with and it was no longer an valid option of payment. So I called the customers support since I new I hadn't removed my credit card as a payment source and was wondering who the hell had. After talking to a very difficult to understand worker for paypal, I was explained that as long as I had money in the bank account that I had verified with, I couldn't use a credit card for payment. Is it too much to ask to be able to keep the money you pay with and the money you get from selling separate. Especially, when you have two accounts attached to the account. Wheres all this flexabilty they promised when I signed up. Admittedly, I got mega pissed. I yelled. I spit. I think at one point I went mad monkey and threw crap on the phone right before I gave up and paid the damn thing. Somewhere in between, I think I felt the tumer forming. So if I email anyone asking if you will take a money order, please just accept it and don't make me deal with these assholes again.

That is really weird... It always does the bank account option first when you go to send someone money. I don't think you can change the default to not do that. However, you can change the payment method to a credit card after the the first page or something like that. I have to change it every stinking time. Also, you can sever the bank account and just use the card if you like. They let you add the bank account again without re-verifying the bank account. You won't even have to enter the details again. I always use the credit card if I am dealing with someone I don't know or the amount is high-enough for me to worry about the deal going smooth. That way, I can always fight an issue with my credit card company when PP fails to do what I believe is right.

Good luck!

are you talking about the money in your bank acount you have linked to paypal, or are you talking about your balance in your paypal account? They wont charge your card or bank if you have the funds on hand in thier account to pay for it. If your talking about your bank account they have no way of knowing your balance there.
Only way to keep purchases and sales separate is to have 2 accounts

Or drain your PayPal account after selling and before you buy again.

Yep its the way it works now.

4% charge on $ that cost them 2.5% to access for you OR

4% charge on $ that they already filtered 4% out of already.

It's not a "tumEr".

It wouldn't surprise me if they tried to force a change like this. More money for them. I also have to change my payment default every single time I make a purchase. It gets real annoying, but I have it down to s science. I bet I could do it blindfolded. :D

I have 4 credit cards linked to PayPal and I have the PayPal Funding (GE Money Bank). The funding gets me in trouble.. always dip into it to buy more than I can afford

I have no problems with PayPal. I like the new "gift" option. You can send small amount of money with no fees!

Did you know that if you "gift" money on your purchases through KLOV then there is no transaction fee as long as the money resides in the senders account already.

I am new and had some misconceptions about the system. Apparently paypal acts as a bank. They keep your money until you send it to your bank account. I thought they put and withdrew money directly into your bank account. Rather, they hold on to it until you decide to pay for something with paypal so they get 4% more. I pretty much felt like an idiot when I went to withdraw my money from my bank account only to find I had no money there. I don't think I even want to use paypal any more. Not after all this BS.

i got a paypal debit card right away and whenever i get paid for something i just go to the atm across the street and withdraw whatever i want in cash. in my circumstance its actually quicker and easier than going to the bank. i could list a set of records for sale on a collectors forum and literally have a pile of cash in my pockets in minutes. come to think of it, i could use a couple bucks right now...

No offense but that kinda sounds like your fault, since it's pretty easy to figure that out just by reading the 'How PayPal Works' section right on the front page of the website.

Not knowing that the money was in they're posession until its transfered was probably my fault. Assuming the reason I tied my bank account and credit card as a form of payment would also be where the money I made went was probably my fault as well, but stil annoying as all hell. But not being able to pay for an item with those same accounts that I had to tether to my paypal account just pisses me off to no end. Its a stupid system and a crappy way to do buisiness.

LOL, I have that as well, funny thing is when I pay them I do it from my bank account. For some reason I cant get GE (paypal funding) to accept a Paypal payment:D

I usually just use thier debit/credit to pay for my purchases, or get cash out at Walmart or a grocery store that gives cash back. Thats about the only way you dont have to pay withdrawel fees or wait a week for the money to transfer
