Paypal Forcing Currency conversions ?!?

This is an eloquent solution, however, it might offend some buyers. The last thing some of us sellers need to do is poke the bear. In this day and age, buyers freak out on you if you don't over-communicate, under-promise, and over-deliver.

Paypal has become a necessary evil at this point. Surely there has to be some other competitor out there that could rise to the challenge? Most of my local banks offer e-payments. Cripes, I think you can even send someone money via Facebook.

Surely Google has to have a better option? Isn't there something called Google Wallet?

I'm not a big seller or buyer so it doesn't matter much to me, but I see your point.

What would bother me more is using something other then Paypal. For good or bad, It's currently the standard. I can understand the frustrations from this current thread, but because of the years of bitching from sellers that they have to pay a fee and loose profit has kinda turned me off from needing to find a change.

The current thread while it does have a valid point, it isn't the end of the world and ended up not being the Paypal conspiracy it was first thought to be. Just a bad UI design and implementation from Paypal that does have a workaround.

Heyhey..this was me that paid you. I have since been refunded and paid you with all US funds but from a buyers POV I gotta say, paypal is sneaky.

Since you are in Canada it never crossed my mind to change that drop down box.
Just enter your email...click next a couple times and that's it.

But.....it's new, I am sure there will come a time for some of us when it's actually necessary too but for now, all we gotta do is remember to use that drop down box if our seller needs USD. Sellers will have to remember to tell their customers too. A PIA? Yep but not the end of the world.

You rock buddy. Thank you for doing that. US funds received. 2600, thank you for the suggestion.

To say the least, this change was a VERY sneaky move on Paypals part.

From now on, I have to communicate this detail to any potential person buying something from me in the US. Its not overly bad for the buyer. They just have manually choose to make the payment in US and not to convert to CDN as it automatically will TRY to do.

Sneaky bastards!

Whats Bitcoin? Would that be a solution of any type?

i recently had a gentleman send me $200 from canada and he did not note any additional charges on his end?
thanks

I do remember buying a few things from guys up there, thinking wow 380 dollars American is 508 Canadian at the exchange rate..

This could be a sweet hustle, but then of course I'm sure a 6 pack of beer is 25 dollars right[emoji8]

Amen.
...but I'm not a seller anymore...

It is also worth noting that, as has been discussed at length on other forums - PayPal's currency conversion rates are notorious for being 'behind' or 'at' actual daily exchange rates - in their favor, provided by their bank, at their discretion, and without notice :(
