Did anyone watch pawn stars on Monday? I thought it was hilarious that they over payed for that evil Knievel pinball. Maybe after watching that people will stop putting outrageous prices on craigslist!!

It's been pretty much thoroughly discussed that Pawn Stars is "made for TV" reality show BS...

I saw the episode. I was LMAO when they were discussing it and buying it. I laughed harder when they took it to a real person for restoration instead of that crook Rick Dale.

It may be "made for TV reality show BS," but it's still entertaining.

I just can't bring myself to watch it ever since I found out that they close the shop for taping, hire actors to bring in "merchandise" and no transaction is ever made on those items. Weak sauce.

I am not sure he overpaid by much. $1,200 plus $300 to get it working and repair the cosmetic issues.

You might not get $1,500 for it here on KLOV, but in the real world, with it being on TV, and the connection to Eval K, they should make a buck off it.

I didn't see this episode but i'll be sure to. that sucks to hear that they actually close the store and hire actors to tape it, but it's reality tv doesn't surprise me at all. I do enjoy the show to a point tho as there are some very interesting things brought onto it.

I also like American Pickers (which their numbers and items are nicer), and storage wars is good too (although i'm sure with it's own amount of hollywood).

I also believe thanks to the show the price on some of these items will get inflated 90% of the time.

Also Rick Dale crooked or not does excellent work atleast it looks like it. lol

To be fair, I can't blame them for closing the shop when the tape the show, otherwise it would be a zoo. You can always see they have a few people "shopping" in the background, but if you notice the guy that watches the door he seems to get up and usher people away if they try to come in. I was a lot more into the show last year and even went and saw the shop while on vacation in Vegas. It was neat to go and see, but oddly enough, I have stopped watching since then.

The place is usually packed, they have no choice but to clear the place before taping. There's really not much to the place, you'd be surprised how small it really is.

i keep missing all these coin operated pickers and pawn stars shows........all my friends and co workers say.....OOOO DID U SEE THAT SHOW LAST NIGHT???
the only one i ever saw that had a arcade game was the one where picker bought that old strength machine for $200 or $300. THAT was a deal i would have bought

but if pawn stars paid $1500 for evil knevial then id say thats WAY HIGH. look what else you can have for $1500

i missed a evil knieval in pittsburgh here for $150......i know that was cheap, and it sold quick......but thats far far from 1500!!!

Do you mean this one? I could not believe the price, $5500. It was in the back of their store when I was out there in January. I saw that it was a good condition machine, in no way is it "Collector Quality" with all of the chipped paint on the cabinet.

The real funny price was the Williams "Blue Chip" that they had for $4500

I've only seen the episode with the Odds and Evens. I really want to believe I did not hear the appraiser correctly when he quoted 3K to repair the machine. They bought the thing for about 1K (...) and went ahead with letting the guy fix it. They either received the greatest restoration ever for an Odds and Evens or got taken for a ride.

Not always.... I was in the shop last summer while they were filming. The producer kept yelling at everyone (Due to idiots using cameras with the flash on), threatening to throw everyone out if one more person took a photo...two seconds later a women flashed a pic, tool.... Then the door guy/security started swearing at everyone... It was interesting to watch lol... I talked to a guy in the parking lot who had a cannon on a trailer, he was not an actor (I saw him on the show a few months later) selling the cannon to Rick. Yes, the prices in the shop were out of the ballpark stupid...

It may be "made for TV" BS, but the show trandscends into the suburban gold mentality when you start to see crap like Royal Flush for $4k on CL/...

Can you post the article that you got this from? Would be interesting to read it. Thanks

Nothing directly but a bunch of clues that points to it being truly "made for tv".

The woman with the quilt full of signatures- that was real, but never intended to be sold or bought on the show.

The dude who had the Kiss Pinball posted online after the show that he still had the machine if anybody wanted to buy it. The "sale" that took place on the show never happened.

There was a dude who came in with an item (can't remember what it was) and Rick told him it was a fake. The dude flipped out and kept saying that his wife was going to kill him for paying so much for a fake item. Well, it turns out that the dude was acting and has been doing TV commercials for some time.

Why would an owner of a pawn shop bring in a historian while the customer is there to find out how much an item is worth?

You don't really think that a dinky pawn shop would buy a hot air balloon do you?

The Coke machine expose' as well. The restored machine was a totally different machine than what they started with.

I still enjoy the show, though. I like to see all the collectables.

i think that was a pistol that he had.
