Pawn Stars.

I agree with most of the comments,(staged, overpriced stuff, pulling fast ones, etc) but I don't really care too much about it.The bottom line is that I find the show entertaining and that's all that matters to me.

Bash it all you want, but I'd much rather watch Pawn Stars than the following POS shows that should be cancelled immediately:
The Hills,Jersey Shore,16 and pregnant,18 Kids and Counting,Kate plus 8.

Seriously, who watches these shitty ass shows?!

I can't stand 18 kids and counting. I personally feel that these people are irresponsible. Now they have 19...who wants 19 fucking kids??

I bet Jim Bob is a coke and sex addict. Guess they forgot to mention that little tid-bit on the show. I mean, how else could a man produce that much and put up with that shit? God must really hate him or he's found the perfect drug... Must be some good shit!

The "Lawd" has a sense of humor, and he's using it on Jim Bob...glad it ain't me.

I am glad its not me either. I don't know what his wifes name is but that damn vagina is like a winning slot machine...

On a related note, I'm hoping to visit their shop next week. I recall a member here had his picture taken with them when he was there. Maybe that was before the show gained even more popularity.

That might have been my wife and I - not sure... We just stopped by - there was no wait and the guys were super easy going. They were actually filming the episode with the Shelby car body on a flat bed.

don't know if anyone's watching, but that guy rick that does the 'restos' on all the pop machines and gas pumps he brings them has his own show now. even has his own 'experts'. just sold a guy a $3500 resto on an old popcorn machine.

I love watching them sell and buy stuff, but I agree the prices are all just made up. People love seeing them accidently buy a piece of shit for 500$ or get a 2000$ clock for 200 bucks. Its neat items, but just made up prices.

I was at the pawn shop in October. No sign of Chumlee. I was pissed.

I have seen the show where they buy the mortar. They shoot a bowling ball out of it and leading up to firing it they apparently didn't know how far it would shoot, and it hurled the bowling ball a long way past their expectations. Chumlee fired the mortar.

Here are two pics I took while there:

A fat buddy from high school that I called Grimmace for so long that there are a lot of people that do not know his real name, I now have been calling Chumlee. I was able to get Grimmace to stick so well that back in the day, when he would be introduced, people would introduce him as Grimmace. Some of these people had no idea what his real name was. It was great. I was proud to be the creator of a nickname that stuck.

Saw the episode tonight with a guy selling a Dig Dug, Yie-Ar-Kung-Fu and Super Dodge Ball, the latter two in Defender cabinets.

Seller wanted $1500; they bought for $600. The show doesn't always get "reality" right, but I thank them this time, `cause $1500 was ridiculous. :D

Actually, I think he said he wanted $1500 per game. I would've laughed him right out of the store.

The guy got duped taking old vids as payment instead of cash on a job. Then looked stunned at their real worth. I laughed all during that exchange. LOL

All reality shows are fake. How about a pawn shop show where they show Jim the crackhead down the street trying to dump a few dozen dvds be stole for money for more drugs or Sam trying to get by in this economy pawning his wedding ring cause he's having a hard time keeping his family feed. That's reality. It's not always like that but it is a reality of life. People get taken off guard all the time easily by tv. I would say the closest thing to a reality show would be antique roadshow.

Example. American pickers.
These guys are driving randomly......and they see a place they think is a good pick.
So then we see a camera shot of them driving down the road.....after that we see a shot of the pickers knocking on the door from the view of the inside of the house. Then they act like this is the first time meeting each other.

I dunno... that guy pawning his Matchbox collection looked like he might have needed that 20k to either pay his dealer or his bookie..maybe both. Most times I'm sure the money goes into the casinos..some people admit it. LOL

hardcore pawn is a way more realistic and entertaining pawn shop show

I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago and got the scoop on this place from a cabbie. He said they film the show on Sundays so thats when Rick, Big hoss and Chumlee are there, so thats the day to go. Also they say their open 24 hours a day but its not true, they close at 8pm! lol And yeah alot of the shit on the show is made up and just for Tv!

Actually - they are (or at least used to be) open 24 hours. They close the store @ 8PM and operate through a window.

Here's a video clip of Rick on Insomniac, @ 4:47 AM - from 2003! You guys remember this show, Dave Attell is pretty sweet.

I just saw an episode where they bought a digdug and 2 other games for like $500. I think that is TOTALLY reasonable - they should be able to pretty much triple what they buy or they are wasting their time. Retail real estate for a big footprint item like an arcade machine?!! Considering you could fir a million dollars+ of Rolex and Tiffany in that space I'd say they would be morons to pay much more than that.

Are you affiliated with the Apple Amusements in Maryland, New Jersey, or Alabama, or is there another Apple Amusements now?

The episode was on last night where a guy had 3 machines. Dig Dug (dedicated) and three other conversions in a Defender cab. When they showed the preview, I told my wife... Dig Dug is worth about $300, the others are MAYBE $100 each. I told her $500 for all three. She laughed and said I was crazy.... little did she know.
How much does he offer for them? $500. LOL!
He settled on $600, and depending on the condition, I might have too. But to hear that guy wanted $1500 a piece was crazy.
