Pawn Stars

I like that one....

But it was his and not the clubhouse attendant one?

My dad had a clubhouse attendant one.
The handwriting expert matched the signatures to copies of known originals in a book she brought in. You don't think a business owner would offer a grand for that ball if he had the slightest doubt re: it's authenticity, do you? The low offer was due to the fact that it looks like the ball was used in play for 20 years after it was singed, nothing more, nothing less.

That's the thing, who knows? Some "expert" came in and claimed it to be authentic, but you never know. I'm sure that was part of not offering a shit ton of money for it.

Most of the "Experts" have an encyclopedia of the clubhouse ones too.

What they offer?

Best I would do would be $350 If I ran a biz....

Guy could always go to a local dealer... There are a few autograph specialists in LV.

I don't really collect autographs like that.... 99% of mine were obtained in person. Although I never ponied up for either the Mick or Joey D.... They were getting a kings ransom by the time I was old enough to start collecting. I also hate paying for autographs.

So it was a 51 team ball.... Ford, martin, Berra....

Not bad....

Hard to price something in that condition though....

I actually like Pawn Stars, its kind of interesting to see the stuff that people bring in. And as far as an Atari 2600 with 50 games for $100, I would consider that a fair deal. There has bound to be at least one somewhat rare game in that lot that could sell for at least $30 or so.

It was the one year that was Dimmagio's last and Mantle's rookie year, or something like that, so it was definitely cool, just not "collector quality" what ever that means. The dude's dad or grandfather got it personally signed. That is something I'd definitely keep and give to my kid (if I had one).

Yeah, and the guy they had in to authenticate and price the ball probably had no idea what he was talking about...

NOT!

She only authenticated it - she didn't price it. (And it was a lady.) ;)

That'd be my position, too.

It ain't worth much alone, but it's sentimental value is through the roof!

It is what it is - its a tv show for entertainment purposes... if thats not your cup of tea - dont watch it. Kind of like watching fishing shows for me - no interest at all - but somebody else might plunk down with a beer and watch hours of it and be enteretained. I find the Pawn Stars show very interesting because you NEVER know what people will bring in. The guys were all very nice and down to earth. Chum is the same in person as on tv... kind of talked to each one about thier qwirkyness... it was fun.

You should have taken a picture of one of the guys making you an offer on a watch or something.

Exactly.

Anyone here who wants to buy Atari 2600s from me for $100 with 50 games, let me know. I'll go buy a bunch and happily re-sell them to you.

Rare games are rare for a reason. You can go through a collection of 200 games before you find something worth more than $20. ;)

i have an atari 2600 in its original box i would gladly sell with 50 games for $100. that would be double what i paid for it.

I've got a question about Chumley....is his name paying homage to the Tennessee Tuxedo sidekick or is it Chum-Lee (Asian) as he looks like he may be of mixed Asian descent? Al the same, seems like the most likable fellow on the show. The old man seems to me like an old drunk! Just plain 'ol cranky.

Duh, here is a riddle. What has four wheels and flies?

In regards to the Atari... yeah maybe that is steep - I was a little surprised when I saw that as well - I really didnt think they were gonna buy it at all... but as far as resale... yes you can get one on ebay (I agree) however its Vegas and everything there sells for more than it should in Vegas. So they will probably resell if for 200 hundred.... who knows.
As far as the ball - it was pretty beat - I dont think any of us would be having this discussion if it was minty will clear autographs on it...
