Pawn Stars Offers $600 on a Goofy Hoops arcade game...

...and the guy turned it down. Seller was standing firm on $800. Not as bad as the Kiss pinball machine deal or the other restored Bally Odds and Events pinball where the "restoration" cost $3,000 and supposedly would sell for $6,000, but interesting none the less. The seller saved the Pawn Shop on this one.

I was just watching that too and was thinking they would offer the guy $200 or something close to that.. What a goofy ass game that would get old quick! I couldn't believe the seller didn't take the $600 and run! I wonder what they would offer me for some of my games :)

My wife used to be married to that family and she said she remembered always going out to the dunes in north vegas to ride dirt bikes and three wheelers.

She said Pops is as funny in person as on the show and Rick is a HUGE history buff.

The are great guys from my experience, when I was in Vegas last year I stopped by the shop and they were taping. They took the time to talk with anyone that was interested.

Chum-lee is not as stupid in person and his whole persona is an act for the show. I also saw that the producers fed Rick lines as to what to say and they were doing research on the item and informing Rick so he looked like he knew the history of the item also. It was cool to see in person. While I have no doubt that Rick is a history buff, he still needs to do research on a lot of the things they show on the show and you'd never know it by how they show him. Great guy for a pawn shop owner IMO though :)

I agree. There's TONS of history so im sure he doesnt know everything or even close but just to have that "hobby" helps when he explains things on TV.

I just became a fan of the show about 3 weeks ago but haven't seen the above mentioned episode yet as it's on my DVR.

Yeah, that was pretty stupid. "Goofy Hoops" is one of those games that neither collectors nor ops would want.

I can see one of them selling for $250 on a GOOD day. I just wonder how much the seller originally paid for it to think it is worth $800!

I saw that last night, too, and laughed at it pretty hard. After the guys left, the guy said that he was solid at $800 and if he didn't get it later, he will call the Pawn Shop back to take the $600.

The only thing I kept thinking was that I hoped they wouldn't offer anything over $150 for the machine. Those machines don't fetch squat and someone would be lucky to unload it for anything close to $400.

I'm hoping to visit the shop when I'm in Vegas in November. My dad is also a fan of the show so I told him I'd see if I can get a picture taken with a few of the guys. We've both wondered how much Chum-lee is acting for the show. I think the old man is my favorite of the bunch. It never fails when someone tries to ask for more than his offer he counters by dropping his original offer lmao. As someone who works in video/television production, I'd love to see them taping while I'm there so I can see how they do things. A few weeks ago when they had that Native American Flax Bow (sp?) I thought it was cheesy how the minute the owner came to claim it, the peace that it brought to the shop was gone and the 4 of them were back to arguing. I think they could do without that to keep it more realistic, but whatever. As soon as I saw the preview for the Goofy Hoops game I was expecting them to pay nearly $100 for it. I remember they got the broken Pacman cocktail for $250 or so and then had someone restore it and say they should easily get $1000-$1500 for it. I suppose that's possible if you find the right buyer out there.

You guys its "HOLLYWOOD" alot (not all) of that stuff they "Buy" is a crock of shit. Its all entertainment and nothing more. I watch it also but I keep in mind alot of the buys are fake. You guys also need to keep that in mind. They never really bought the Kiss pinball nor the Odds and Evens. It was all staged.

I stopped in on the 27th of June while in Vegas for http://www.ciscolive.com. The line was long outside and there were a LOT of people inside. The prices inside were pretty incredible (high) but it was neat being there where they do the show.

Rick and the TV crew don't work weekends or nights so plan ahead to be there during the week from 8-5.

While there I picked up an autographed shot glass. The Old Man is the only one that autographs his stuff that is on the shelves.

I'll be there Monday - Friday I'm sure I'll find a time to swing by there during the day. Kinda neat if the Old Man has autographed shot glasses for sale. I'd love to pick one up for my dad given the chance. Can you tell me how much it cost? I'm hoping not too much haha.

5 or 6 bucks. Wasn't anything too far out of the ordinary for a standard sized shot glass.

Knowing what I know now about how fake this show is, I can't watch anymore. The coke machine episode absolutely ruined it for me. It went from a very interesting show to a boring manufactured piece of crap overnight.

So needless to say I missed this episode.

...damn coke episode...

Yeah, it's hard to watch it with a straight face.

What it comes down to is, it's the History channel. They use the pawn shop as a vehicle to show things about History. The guy that works there doesn't buy historic shit, and doesn't really know much about historic shit, the stuff tha'ts on the show the History channel provides.

I mean come on. Last week they had a shipwreck expert on the show... and we're supposed to believe an expert in shipwrecks lives in the middle of teh fucking desert in Las Vegas. Why in the hell does all the early american andrew jackson / george washington stuff keep showing up in Las Vegas?

Answer is: it doesn't. It's brought there by the experts the History channel hired.

I mean do you really think the guy that owns a pawn shop really wants to buy cannons and shit? Really? The whole show is laughable. A pawn shop is REALLY in the business of buying world war II fighter planes? Do you really believe that?

I'll bet that pawn shop is making a fortune since that show came out. The gold and jewlery they REALLY sell (like all pawn shops) has probably been flying out the door.

I mainly like to see what comes in the shop. You have to check reality at the door for sure. I know it is rigged. They tried to get the PHOF in Vegas to be the "restorer" of the Bally Odds and Evens but they didn't know who it was that wanted it restored and turned them down.

Its fake??? I dont believe this. I do believe they feed them lines about the merchandise, it makes it interesting to watch. Im sure experts live everywhere. Im also sure they buy weird ass shit. They end up putting alot of things on consignment in other stores where collectors of whatever the item is can find it in a spot where they normally go. Plus you can sell alot of shit online these days, so buying anything wont matter because theres someone that wants it somewhere. Also for the person who said its kinda strange that all these artifacts show up in Vegas, well just think about the desperate people that need money in Vegas. Not to mention now the show is popular people probably go there just to try and get on the show.

Just my 2 cents and thoughts. If its fake please provide details.
