Parts tumbler suggestions?

I'll do some before and after pics if I do it tonight, I have a ton of rusty hardware from that fire damaged LOTR cabinet I want to run through it.

Lets see some pics of these tumbled bolts! Are you guys basically ending up with shiny bare metal when you are done?

Don't they just oxidize /rust again? I can understand polishing stainless hardware, I do that with a buffing wheel. But most bolts I encounter on games are not stainless.

For me it's usually clean the rust off with a wire wheel attached to a bench grinder, then repaint or powdercoat satin black.

I've never had anything I have tumbled rust or oxidize again. Its all about how you store the parts.

If you are new to tumbling one of the things people tend to forget is tumbling additive.. it's the additive that makes the magic happen.

...even if you're dry tumbling, you still add the additive?

Or will just walnut shells work ok?

Well I just put in a few rusty screws/washers in for the night with walnut shells and some flitz, I'll try to snap some after pics before I go to work.
