Parting out a Tempest upright!

I'm still waiting to see the KLOV code of ethics statement as it pertains to arcade preservation. Could someone please show me where it states that all games in your posession must be preserved and passing on/selling of parts to preserve another is strictly prohibited?

Until it's written that you must conform to this policy to be a member, will the whiners please lay off?

I own a fully working Tempest with a near mint cabinet. It's mine, so I can part it out if I want. That being said, I won't, but geez... if someone wants to sell something and you think it goes against the Arcade Collectors Code of Ethics, or ACCE, then PM them privately and don't hijack a sale thread. If you wouldn't do it in person, don't do it on here...

I could use some pieces to help restore a previously converted Tempest back.

I need the spinner, but not the entire control panel so much. Are there any pictures of the cabinets/ parts?

I also need the wooden PCB mount from the inside. Can those be removed without damaging them?

This has some logic to it.

I am going to approach it with this thought.

Some guys may not "know it's not ok" to part a perfectly working game out. Again this would be a huge assumption by me to actually say it's "not ok to part a working game". Obviously this is a matter of opinion. And every guy can do what the hell he wants with his shit.

With that being said, depending on how it's approached to the potential machine parter, it could simply be information that he had not considered previously.

I did not have an opinion about parting a game prior to coming to klov. I knew nothing about video games except that I love playing them. Now I really like working on them as well.
I haven't parted any games, but I am very small time concerning my collection and have never had a lot of extra machines lying around.

I have appreciated member feedback concerning a number of topics, whether it's concerning my behavior (which has been known to get a little rough at times) or whatever.

Anyway, nothing more than a long-winded point of view.

Thanks to those supporting my decision. Know and understand that by parting this machine out, I'm helping others build one, or several Tempest machines back to life.

Is that such a bad thing?

I'll think of this thread the next time I feel like saying anything negative about someone's item for sale.

For a word of advice, if you intend to part out a game, do not say "Parting out Blahblah game" and do not even mention dismantling one or piecing one out. People dont like reading that. Simply say, "I have blahblah parts for sale" and list the parts. I know this from experience. If you make it known that you are parting a game, you will get shitblasted. I know from experience. :)

one of the great lines, and very in tune with the timeline. :)
Let me clarify: there is no timeline, hatrick somehow made a joke of it, whether he intended to or not. I said the cab was decent, not good, not great, not mint. It's not exactly falling apart, either.

I can agree, yet at the same time, disagree. About 2 months ago, I did a similar thread about parting out a Time Pilot. Funny how people didn't go apeshit over that one! I mention parting out a Tempest, and we have an uproar!

Like someone said on the first page: It's my game, and I should feel free to do whatever I want with it.

How do you know that when he hasn't posted any pics of the cosmetics?

$125 isn't much less than a working board....

I was pretty much just basing it off of the marquee and populated control pricing, I guess... Still. Nothing seemed Dale-priced. ;)

let's get this thread back on track.

tempest parts for sale.

I don't think people pick and choose, you were probably just fortunate not to catch some "wrath" concerning that game.
Do what you want bud, it's your shit. Don't ask people to say "thanks for parting a game"

Oh and I do think that opposition to your parting a game should be done via PM. This thread much like many others has been pulled drastically off track.

Mark, that makes you a complete nobody. However, things like this make you be named everything under the sun...negatively.

Giving you the helpful suggestion that maybe you should take pictures of stuff you're trying to sell is "shitting on your post" and "makes me a nobody"?

Yeah, whatever.
