Paradise Arcade Plug & Play CGA/VGA Conversion Kit is AWESOME!!

Mahalo - That means thank you!

Paradise Arcade makes a complete kit with two boards and pre made connectors all wired up so you can use the Gonbes video signal converter board and get power right off the JAMMA fingerboard, totally idiot proof and the performance is da kine! That means fantastic.

My theory is that not all LCDs are of the same quality, and I used a USA made Wells-Gardner
19 inch touchscreen brand new in the box I got off Ebay direct from a Las Vegas Slot machine dealer on the strip who sells to all the big ones like Luxor.

I am running a 60-in-one on my Moonwalker cab with this new LCD-Gonbes-Paradise rig and it IS EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS A CRT ! (to me) - very happy with the colors and no problem with the refresh rate.

i have 2 of those boards. the reason for it is two fold.

1- it gives you really good sizing and location adjustments, resolution, etc. settings beyond what the LCD monitor can do.
2- if you set your multiboard to cga output then pump it into the converter card, with all the resolution adjustments you can get a lot CLOSER effect to a CRT image on the LCD.
the best example for this is Joust, run joust onto an lcd right off the board, it'll look pixelated. run joust as cga into the converter card, make all the fine adjustments for resolution and brightness etc, and you'll get a nicely "smeary" edged effect that makes the bird look like it does on a CGA monitor.

another example is scrolling games like moon patrol and tutankham. moon patrol looks much better when filtered through the converter card.

for bizarre entertainment i've tried a zillion variations on this just to see the effect, among half a dozen different lcd monitors of various sizes including the big tv in our living room. cga/vga cards are great in my opinion....

<insert the lcd vs monitor argument here.. ahem and yawn>

another example is the phoenix arcadeSD board. play robotron and you'll find it to be a square.
now run it through the cga/vga card and you'll be able to make it properly rectangular to fit the old lcd (what is it called 5 to 4, or 3 to 4 ratio?) you know, the older type monitors that aren't elongated.

I feel enlightened.

da kine color brah

Its definitely much better than the straight VGA output, I would go as far to say that if you have a 60-in-one and a VGA monitor you need one of these, really goes well with the WG.

really worth the extra coin and thanks to Paradise Arcade for making it an easy plug and play kit.
