So,
for all intended purposes, the move is now complete. I got my computer set back up tonight, so it must be official. We closed on our house last Friday and spent most of last weekend moving in. All the games are still wrapped up, but at least they are in the basement - all together! :)
The basement is unfinished, but its about 2000 sq ft of mostly open goodness! Now the hard part comes of figuring out where everything is gonna go and how I want to build it. The nice thing is that the house has 400 amp service going to it!! It has 2 200 amp panels - 1 in the garage and 1 in the basement. I thought 1 was just a sub panel, but I found in the main box on the side of my house 2 200 amp main breakers. So I shouldnt have any power issues. I just gotta find a post of how many outlets to a breaker, and gauge wire, etc.
so anyhow, heres a couple pics of the place and the (empty when taken) basement.

I have to get better shots as these are only about a third of the space. Ive been busy getting all the appliances hooked up and such.
But at least my computer is hooked up now so I can be on here more often again! :)

Beautiful!!! Wow dude, that is one hell of a nice setup! Huge amount to spread the collection through and decorate and setup exactly as you want without having to tear out a bunch of useless crap!! I'm jealous for sure, I don't need all that house but would kill to have that kind of basement!

How easy is the game haulin' to get 'em in there... up a crazy staircase without lots of room or do you have a sliding door thats great for getting larger stuff through easier?

I will not be able to purchase a house that doesn't have a huge opening and easy unloading. Was your gameroom one of the big considerations of picking that specific house or just a nice bonus?

EDIT: Nevermind, duh, I see the big doors that go outside! :p

Looks like that basement is a walkout with that giant sliding glass door... Perfect to get the big games in and out.

Yah,
the arcade was a BIG factor in choosing a house (among other things). Apparently here in SC they dont believe in basements for some reason. so we had to narrow our search to the few houses that did. Problem was most of them were chopped up with multiple rooms. We were WAY lucky to get this one. Got it for a killer price as well. Thankfully the exposed part of the basement is on the side of the house instead of on the read and the sliding doors helped as well! Although I may be pulling them out to put in French doors as the one cab I have (Simpsons style with a 33" tube in it) was too damn big to get in without pulling the one door off.

I might be able to help with that, don't forget that a 20 amp breaker can only leagaly use 16 amps. More then likely you have a 320 amp service paralleled to the two panels. One MIGHT be a subfeed panel, it is possible. If you know the wattages drawn on each game I can figure it out for you. What kind of panels do you have? Most times it's a square D QO or homeline, Cutler Hammer or GE. If you do have questions don't hesitate to ask.

I am with you on this. I plan to replace my sliding doors with french doors before I pull some of my cabs out of my gameroom. Currently I have to go around two 90 degree corners and up half a flight of stairs just to go back down in order to get some cabs outside. French doors are the last piece of my current gameroom puzzle.

Thanks for all the complements on the house. Its kinda a double edged sword though. Between the relocating money, down payment on the place, and starting new jobs, I wont be in the market for games for a while - and probably wont start on the basement till after tax time. But at least I have a nice starting off point. Dont know why the water heater is elevated. No flooding problems here though.

Awesome house, Awesome basement space.......very, very jealous.....

Hot Water heater is on stilts....possible flooding problems?

I have lived numerous places that did that and I have no clue what it was that way, but I don't think it is flooding. Maybe something to do with the gas?

My new house has the hot water heater on the elevated stand also. Mine is in the garage but my plumbing/AC guy told me it's about some quirky new code they have now. Before only gas heaters had to be elevated, now tho even electric heaters fall under the same guideline. Something about the "possibility" of leaking gasoline from a vehicle or container causing a vapor trail to any spark within the heater. So elevating it helps prevent this possible ignition. At least this is the explanation he gave me. I believe the code comes into play whenever a hot water heater is installed on a concrete surface.

Yep. It's about reducing the likelihood of igniting any gases, which tend to be heavier than air.

Congrats! Hopefully I'll be posting similar pics sometime soon!

Its part of a building code... When I was doing HVAC we'd have to raise our water heaters in some places, the city next door you could leave it on the ground and they wouldn't bat an eyelash...

Jeff,
Congrats on the new place, looks great. I wish you all the best down there. Im going to miss our meetings once in a while to do game deals. If you have family keft up this way and go to vistit, we may have to try to get together then
