Hey all,
I had a Paperboy that I was hoping to sell in the next couple weeks as I figure I will need the room sooner or later and its not really a game that I want for my collection. It was working the last time I plugged it in within the last month or so. The power supply has been rebuilt. The monitor has been recapped. The controls are working although they are a little sloppy(didn't want to have to order from Ram Controls to get the parts). The PCB was a little problematic so I cleaned and reseated the legs, and its currently working 100% AFAIK. It's also got a new ballasts, bulb, and starter. The side art was shot and had some graffiti so I stripped the white plastic coatings off the side. Now its pretty much ready to have the sides painted when the weather permits and new repro artwork installed. Overall, a fairly nice example of a survivor game. I can get some more recent pics if anyone is really interested. Of course, its no where near perfect, but its a good start to a nice restoration. I'm asking 750$ and I should be able to bring it to the next Kingsport auction (Jan 12th-weather permitting) if it would help. I'm open to trades especially towards pins(and occasionally rare pcbs), and vector games, but again, not really looking to bring in another game. Below are a few pics of the game before the marquee light was fixed proper, before both sides were stripped, and before the PCB crapped out and needed to have the chips reseated. It might need the switching PS replaced as its currently working but looks a little haggard. The fan might need to be replaced as its a little loud. I think that's about it. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll do my best to answer. And thanks for looking.

P.S. I have no idea why the last two pics are sideways as I had them flipped upright in my gallery.

Well, the auction is Saturday, and I haven't had any interest in it yet. So I have to decide whether to keep it till Spring, or take it to the auction Saturday. I'm leaning towards the latter, although I may have to bring it home if it doesn't bring anything. If I wait till spring, I'll probably end up painting it. Just wanted to do a heads up as it may be at the auction.

Later guys,
:)

Hopefully you got close to what you wanted at auction. Love mine, just got sideart to finish my full resto.

Thank you. I had recapped and rebuilt the monitor and it had a new flyback. HOT and regulator as well IIRC. I had also rebuilt the AR-3 PS in it thanks to a kit Dream TR sold me. It should last for quite a while to whoever got it. The only thing it might have needed was a new swithing PS (uses a switcher and linear PS). I wasted a lot of time on that damned game last year for a friend who decided he didn't want it. In the end, I probably broke even on it.....after the gas to take it to the auction. Oh well....live and learn. Time to get back to MY vector and pinball projects.

$325.00..........I was at $300.00........Sharp monitor.

If I was there at auction I would have bought for that price for sure. Even though I have one. Buddy would have quit eyeballing mine! Lol

I wish I could find a paperboy that cheap! Heck under $1000 would be great just don't seem to be any around here.

pb

tough crowd these tire kicker klov cheapos. i woulda gave you 450.00
i promised myself no more games for a few months, but finding it very hard to stay away from video games for sale section.

I was playing the crap out of it while Jason auctioned it. It was a very nice machine.

Imagine that.... It didn't sell on KLOV. Whoulda thought.

True,
But FWIW, I offered up the game to the collecting community for what I thought it was worth considering the repairs/rebuilds I had performed on it and taking into account what I have seen them being offered for in the past. And if you look at the first post, it says asking 750. I would have taken less than what I was asking. Perhaps much less to the right KLOV member. Especially considering that this particular game didn't mean anything to me with the exception of all the work I put into it. I never received the first offer. The only thing that was remotely a bite was someone asking me to clarify what I meant when I was trying to accurately describe all the flaws of the game. My games aren't mint. They're survivors. I often don't apply repro artwork. But I do my damnedest to make sure they are as solid as I can make them. And anything I don't do, I try to let you know....like it might need a new switcher or the PCB had went out once and might sometime in the future need to be repaired. Because I believe if your going to sell something to your collector brothern, you ought to let them know the real condition of a piece. And if it seems like I'm ranting a bit, I guess it just seems a little like someone rubbing salt in an already sore wound.

a fall from grace from 750 aye~

I wasn't trying to rub salt in wound. I love my paperboy and was just stating as if I lived there I would have bought for auction price, restored and gave to buddy because he loves mine. But to pay $750 then restore I wouldn't of because I have a restored one already. Sorry if I offended anyone.
