Can someone with system II experience tell me if my recently aquired PaperBoy has the correct socketed roms? I know some of the sockets will likely be empty due to game differences but I feel like the others I'm seeing have another row of 4 in the empty sockets on the video board.

Any ideas and if they are missing and what model they are? I can burn them if I know the chip type.

Thanks in advance.

The System II boards Paperboy and Championship Sprint are interchangeable.

This means that if you populate the proper CPU and VIDEO boards with the proper ROMs (as well as the slapstic on the CPU board) you can convert a "Paperboy" to Champ Sprint, and vice-versa. If you only want to swap the VIDEO boards, then you just need the ROMs

Paperboy CPU has 13 ROMs and VIDEO has 13. For the whole set, you'd need:

27C64 x 1
27C128 x 15
27C256 x 10

You could also just get all 256's and double up the 16K binaries and quadruple the 8K binary.

Thanks. That helps. I realized after reading your comment and going back to the manual that the confusion was how the illustration was shown. Figure A5 shows how to replace the roms and has them marked. Even though the empty sections are marked, they don't contain a part number in small print next to them like the other sockets. I thought I was supposed to have roms in all the marked sockets. Thanks for clearing that up. Cheers.
