Paperboy questions

This morning I decided to tinker a bit again. I verified the switcher already in there had 12A on the +5 volt line, so I committed to hacking the wiring to the power board. I wired in a +5 line, and fired her up. On came the LED, and out came pretty test tones. After adjusting the monitor and turning the test switch off, I had some badass paperboy action going! The monitor has a beautiful picture, it just needs a little more fine tuning to fill the whole tube. The steering pot cannot pass testing, but it works. I just can't turn all the way to the right.

The music in this game kicks ass, but I do have one complaint. It needs.....................MORE COWBELL! :D

Well it turns out that Paperboy is my wife's 'grail' game. I had called her after I got it fixed, and told her I had a surprise for her. I didn't tell her what it was, but I figured she would assume I had fixed one of the many household items on my plate. She got home and jumped out of the car exclaiming "You fixed paperboy!" I could hardly get her off the game all day.

djw90 - I ran a +5DC line to the video board because the ARIII was not putting it out. Now a switcher supplies a clean +5 to both boards. The ARIII still supplies ground and +15V to the video board.

Congrads. It looks like a nice machine:)

I have a new question:
The handlebars do not center exactly - they are always a bit off to the right. I have tried compensating with the pot, but it doesn't help. There appears to be no setup option to tell the CPU where the handles are actually sitting at rest.

So the question - is there anything I can do to rectify this? New springs? Maybe just a certain spring? Can I take a spring off and stretch it or something?

Surely this has to be a regular issue on the games.

My handlebars are also off-centered. Sometimes, I have to hold it centered or the bike will drift to the right. I'm ok with calibrating it from time to time, but I'd like for the handlebars to rest straight and not off-centered.

That is exactly what mine does in exactly the same place. It makes thing think spring fatigue. Calibration doesn't change the fact that you have to physically hold your handlebars straight in order to go straight.

Last night I had guests over, so I turned the games on for a bit. We went back in the house, and the games stayed on for another 2 hours or so. I go out to turn everything off, and the Paperboy monitor is dead. Great!

Still plays blind of course. I pull it out, and the fan somehow came unplugged. I plugged it back in, then turned on the game. No HV crackle at all on the monitor. The fuse is still good, and nothing looks blown up. I guess the HOT died, and this one is in need of a rebuild like the other K7000 I just rebuilt.

The worst part? I am supposed to be hosting a gameroom birthday party for my wife tommorrow night, and I have multiple games out of order now.
