I have A Paperboy game that was resetting when I would first turn it on,but would always work after A few seconds. Yesterday the game froze on the high score screen. I turned the game off, and on, and now all I have is A blue square, on the screen, and the game will not coin up,or make any game sounds. The game has 2 new Big Blue Capacitors, and A new switching power supply,
which is set at 5.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the volts at the connectors. These games are notorious for crispy molexes. I would also go through and reseat all of the connectors.

How is the AR III in it? Mine had similar symptoms to yours and it was my ARIII.

So this is the photo the OP sent me of his Paperboy. He bought a new AR III cap kit from Bob Roberts, but it hasn't helped. What do you guys think?

Try swapping out the 6502A on the cpu. Mine was resetting every ten seconds. Put a ew one in and fixed the problem.

I replaced the 6502A on The main CPU,and I'm still just getting just A blue screen. Does anyone know what else might cause this problem?

I have never seen the inside of a Paperboy.

That screen looks like nothing is being processed. I would check all connectors and connections. If they all look good and voltages are good then you need a logic probe. Probe the crystal and make certain there is a pulse there.

If you can get a working arIII board to put in there just to rule that out.

I'm having a similar problem where it's resetting every 2 seconds. This posting is from January so I'm hoping you may have found a solution.

Thanks

Have you tested your power supply? The big blue on atari machines is notorious. Bob Roberts also sells a good rebuild kit for it as well. There is even a great article on his site about it. If that doesn't work its got to be the PCB :(

Contact kstillin. He had me send my boards to him and fixed them and sent them back fast and reasonable price wise. He has one for testing and pinpointing problem. Mine works like a dream. Also great member and person.
